Hello! It is Fall! Everything will change soon...
There was some squirrel sitting on the birch branch, and it ate an apple! I have never seen this before. Sorry, not good photos..
It is possible that it ate the apple seeds only, I don't know, but it has small apple in hands, and the apple disappeared!

So, the old feeder begins to be too old, and unpractical... ( I don't like the color of the new feeder, its too strong to match to the colors of squirrels.. hm.. oh, but they will be gray soon! ) It is there now to be tested if squirrels accept it. It is good for birds that they cannot go sitting there inside.. Anyway, the new feeder needs some refinements.. we will see.

testing the new feeder:
I just wonder how a Wood pecker can take seeds from this feeder?? Well, they like more perhaps of fat balls..

5th September went on. The big old birch in loosing leaves, those there on the ground have been fallen already during summer, the hot, long and a dry summer. A view from veranda window to the other side of the house: The most important animal of our neighbor has come to look what's happening here :

neighbours dog,are you curious too about the new feeder ? ...not for dogs I am afraid, only for birds and squirells.!
The squirell is very suspicious of that new feeder. What on earth is this..where is 'my' feeder gone ?.
I expect the new one will be soon familiar to all. It is a 'Rolls Royce' of a feeder.
I am sending you positive thoughts and good feelings,to Olga the birds and of course the squirells.

The new feeder is pretty upscale and shinny. The squirrels seem to be adjusting without any trouble.
I have never seen a squirrel eating an apple but I think I just found the first evidence of a possum attacking a tomato (they did not get far and it might have been a raccoon).

they may think you think?
They know the different feeder ofcourse, but thinking.
In any case, the new feeding place is found.

Yes, squirrels seem not to care how the feeder looks. It has been planned for small birds, but I think their sitting place is rather 'short' and small. Tits can take seeds from the box, but it seems somehow difficult to stand on that place,.. what's the name of it on English a roost??
It's funny how the squirrel takes the nut from the basket..
Please, proposals for name for Little boy (In Finland the most 'popular' name for a squirrel is perhaps Olli (Olli-orava .. rabbits are mostly called Jussi, jänö-Jussi.
Charles? (after Aznavour ) or Michel?.. André? Yves?

macdoum, you made the right question:
What on earth is this..where is 'my' feeder gone ?
(yesterday:)
I changed the nut basket. The yesterday's basket was uncomfortable..
- There is something wrong here now! What to do!..Oh, I have to cope with that..

How long will it take them to attack the nuts from above?

I'll add the other basket on the other side a bit higher than that white one.
Now it is easier for small birds to take seeds. They noticed it at once.

Hi, both, Charly and Bud, or Buddy sound fine for me. Let's wait what others say. Nappu has kept me busy, but I have some photos waiting to be added here. I don't know who they have been. There were even two at same time! All the day there has been some squirrel, and always without pause tits!macdoum wrote:I think we may call him Charly it is much less formal than Charles. The same squirrel as in previous post, continues. I heard that he left and jumped on the fence. What did I see when I looked from the other window behind my back. He was sitting there under tomato bushes, eating, perhaps making a nut store for winter!
