Camellia? Outdoors? In WINTER?
Alice, please, please say that you are kidding.
I only ever see camellias when I go to the Mediterranean greenhouse of the Botanical gardens. And potted in garden centres, dying the moment they get into central heated rooms.
The Lady of the Camellias (Dumas & Greta Garbo) would have been terribly expensive in upkeep here indeed with her posies of camellias ...

Liis it is Spring, I started a new thread :whistling: (but in support of my contention the woman down the street was doing her gardening in a short sleeved t-shirt this afternoon -- I was wearing a coat while walking)
That bush is the earliest to bloom. I would say it generally blooms in winter. I have a hedge 20 feet tall of a variety of kinds of camellias -- often it is so rainy that the flowers get beaten to pulp.

Today I dug 1,75 metres of dumped snow off where some snowdrops are expected to come up. Sometime.

Thanks, some consolation ...
I have a rose like that . No immediate pulp, that is, but you have to slit the utmost petals after a rainy period, or it won't open, just rot.

Lovely pictures, Alice.

It's nice to know that Spring is somewhere! Some friends on Vancouver Island (north and west of Alice) report snowdrops, daffodils, spring iris, primroses , etc etc

The dark hellebore is from down the street (I think she has a prize winning garden) -- the two in my garden are much lighter.

Lovely pics, lovely plants Alice. :2thumbsup:
We have..Snowdrops and Hellebore too. Tulips and Daffodils are on the way.
No wonder, our weather has gone from -6° C to 15° today. Kraazy weather. :puzzled: The snow has all melted of course..I did like that lovely white everywhere, but then I don't have to adventure out unless strictly necessary.
Carmel a member of SHOW .. I hope you love birds too. Its economical. It saves going to heaven.

 Alice, beautiful and moving pictures! They remind us here that some of those same flowers will be blooming here too, one day when the snow has gone.. after 10 weeks or so..
