post number 4/6

Silk ear jumped up and.. oh no she climbed down, almost until on the ground! Now I was scared.. I do not trust that much on my dogs, not 100%! ..all though they have not chased the squirrels too much.. the older dog was only two three meters from the squirrel.. what a sloppy little Silk ear..it's dangerous..

This is the second dog who came to watsh the show :innocent:

Silk ear didn't eat nuts at all, she went away and didn't return..

I have to do something to keep her safe.. maybe i'll put a fence around the climbing tree for her if she returns and jumps on the ground - to go too close to my dogs would be very dangerous..

I love these stories.
Yes, now there must be a Squirrel Protection Society! Do you have the right stuff to make a fence, Olga?

I went to bed before all the pictures had been posted.

I had to return to see what was what.

At least Silk Ear had her eyes on the dogs.

Now there is a garden fence at ground around the climbing tree. I thrust on Squirrels that they do not go too close to dogs.. This time the dogs didn't not even bark, but they were a bit astonished because of the noise that the little Squirrels made.

I have noticed that if the dogs are further they do not care much of Squirrels - some times they bark a bit, when they notice a squirrel on the trees around the house, but that's that, soon they stop. And they have not tried to 'catch' them. But I'll keep my eyes on watch the next days..- Silk ear may have a quite good self esteem :D - I wish she has knowledge of the reality also, better than us humans.. but in any case, dogs are animals too, and they too have a good self esteem. Maybe the Squirrel tried to chase the dogs away.. :puzzled: They feel home around this house??Aniway: They should not meet each others too close.. Photo of the Squirrel protection fence tomorrow.

I begin to be quite sure that these two squirrels are a couple. It was maybe fifth or fourth day they visit almost at same time, the one after the other..

She, the Silk ear is so sweet looking in the morning light -at 7:00

And he, the day befor esterday at 17:00 in the afternoon  :

The squirrels are very quick animals..and the dog we see does not seem that interested, only curious. :D Anyway you have the fence up now and they will realise how useful it is.
The squirrels must know your dogs very well,(and you too.. :rotf: ) as they live so close. I bet they are watching your every move to see when the nut-delivery is taking place. They must have been watching you all winter.....

The couple of Silk ear. He was there in all calm, showing her back side to me, careful, shy, but calm.. different to Silk ear, lively, alerted, curious..(?)..

Then he raised his head: - I can hear you, it's you there. All right..

...and he left.

21st May

I was busy till midday and when I returned home there was a Squirrel sitting on the lamp under the roof eaves. I was told that the squirrel had been sitting the for three hours! What?? I took dogs in and tried then to take a photo from the window

Image

Who is she/he?? Not Silk ear nor the grayish pair of her? Fina? Who knows..I went in the yard and tried again to take a photo.. :D No, no good succes. Maybe he/she was scared for death!.. I took one pic more and went back in.. She left without noise.. Later I just heard some steps there on the feeder.. I didn't even watch, no more squirrel photos for today, because there has been enough happenings for them. I constructed the 'fence' yesterday, and refined it today, and decorated with violets. The idea is that Squirrels may jump behind the fence through the holes, if they happen to climb down on the ground.. Dogs can't anything but watch..

continues..21st May

The Squirrel protection fence. The climbing tree reaches to the roof, for the mostly they use it, walk over the roof and jump to the big pine in front of the door or to the old birtch on the other side of the house.

Thank you, the photo is not very sharp. I have several times waited for this bird, because it keeps visiting every other day..but it is so alerted, so quick! The bigger Woodbecker is different, not that fast like mercury .. This time I didn't wait for him/her, but for the Silk Ear who was making some noise at the roof, then the Lessr Spotted Woodbecker appeared there..
