Thanks for asking, Alice. He seems much the same - deaf, so his voice is so loud. Almost blind so he seems to be looking in the wrong direction sometimes. We have lots of cuddles, so he knows he is still loved even if he can't see or hear me!

How is Ms. Small?

This plant grows in cracks in the sidewalk and in the street. This year it seems to be doing very well. For some reason the lower plants growing on the beach at the seal cam remind me of it.

Alice, those colours look autumnal. Do you want an Autumn/Fall topic yet?

I am not quite ready -- I have some real fall leaves so I have been debating the issue.

I will have to think about the purple flower.

This does look like st john's wort (or it does in my photos) -- except it is tiny, each leaf is about a 1/4 inch wide, probably more than .5 centimeter but not by much. These plants top out at about 6 centimeters tall. It might be a kind of Spurge or a Purslane (but it does not seem edible in anyway shape or form)

Alice. I am waiting to see the latest possum photo,the one with 'soft fur'.. when you have time.

I think Fall has begun because the rains are here -- it is still warm but it grey and damp. My tomatoes will be cracking due to damp rather than frosting.

Small is getting awful tired and the rain isn't doing her any good either. She had pain one day -- she shrunk back when I tried to wipe her nose, but that pain decreased instead of increasing.

So...

Oregon's weather is kind of confusing -- sort of -- if it is sunny it is summer and if it raining it is winter. This picture is summer even though it was taken recently.

Not season related but...

Sewage work in process -- city is replacing the main line through the block. This is looking from my house at the left is my Transparent Apple tree. I hope it survives -- I saw the digger hitting a branch, obviously its roots have been cut and now its trunk is almost buried.

This little guy is only about 2 feet tall. It is growing in a crack in the street along side the curb, in an area with lots of deer (they seem to enjoy nibbling on sunflower stalks). It seems to be doing so well despite all those odds.

Looks quite harmless. People laugh, when I tell them that I do actually need a stepladder to harvest my balcony tomatoes If it takes a little longer, my neighbour upstairs can start harvest as well!

We planted our tomatoes to late this year, and with all that rain we've had this summer they matures very slowly. Of eight tomatoes only one is red, the others are still green. But we still hope, for no tomatoes are better than the ones we grow ourselves...( But our plant is not very impressive..only one plant in a bucket, who we move after the sun..who is never there )
