Is this really our Silk Ear, from last year?

Her coat is much lighter in colour - nearer to white. The other squirrels seem to have a slightly darker winter coat.

Well, I am not 100 % sure.. But I do think it is her. Wasn't it Silk ear who liked to sit on the roof of the feeder too, a bit more than others..was it. She did it again.

They really have, each one of them, some typical manner to move, to stay sitting on some place or to take some position. Anja used to 'meditate' e g. stayed there without doing anything but watching..Silk ear was also some how more fearless, she didn't care that much if she saw me. Lonely boy looked as he were a 'worried', shy, .. it's difficult to describe.

Btw, it's the time to put the water pot for them, I almost forgot it.

It may be that I have taken photos of Silk ear than of others.. perhaps yes.

26th May 2010:..

viewtopic.php?p=71351#p71351
...that time when I got these photos, I was not sure that she was Silk ear, I named her then the 'cousin of Silk ear' - she looked so similar to her.. She was Silk ear :D Pale cheeks she has, maybe she is a bit older than some others, and that's why the color is lighter. I remember that also Alice thought one day the same.. (sorry Alice if it was not you!!)

Also here, very typical looking Silk ear. Ear tassels for winter have not begun to grow yet:

I zoomed while taking the photo to see better the special spot on his fur. It is not bald, but there is brown fur growing. Yes, I see, that I had taken a photo of his ear tassel..

It's not a bald spot:

Immediately after the first one had climbed back on the roof, came she, but who she?? Anja? Silk ear?? A new one? I need to check some pics from some few day backwards. I didn't see well the right side if there was the bald area to see, to see if she is Anja:

edit: It is not Anja, just can't be. So this squirrel might be Silk ear, she has lost more of her gray fur. I am uncertain. I don't know how fast the gray fur can fall.. :help: The face and color of the cheeks seem to me similar to Silk ear's.

Silk ear

( now I am sure that this Squirrel is the same that Jo UK called Long ear! Last spring time and perhaps even in the spring 2009 - she has not changed, she is older than some other squirrels, and I know her)

Silk ear is a calm squirrel by the nature, but lively. I believe that the gray roundish male squirrel, who is seen on my first post today, is her mate. Or some of her acquaintances or something...

She, both of them, ate in peace. Silk ear likes to look around every now and then, looking at the window too. She is not very scared of me moving the curtain. I never try to make contact with her nor with others. Silk ear is the only one who has stepped in my room from the open window, for one time - as far as I have been told. And for one time I saw her nose pushing in from behind the curtain. I was scared!! :rotf: Clapped a bit hands: Hi, you there. Please, it's better not to come in. She went. But stayed on the roof of the feeder..well, I have told this for a couple of times.

The water bowl:

All the time that I was working to tie the bowl on the balcony, both Wood peckers were flying around me. They do not like me to handle their place!

It's ready,

the first inspector was more interested on the fat ball:

- What, what is going on here!
Image

Image

- That woman attacked my perch, but she was not hungry, saved my food to me! Lucky me. I scared her away! Good.

Some small 'history' of Silk ear:

This is Silk in last spring 2010, she loosed her tassels ealier in that spring, and she changed her color bwfore the end of Aprill:
viewtopic.php?p=69683#p69683

***

2010, 15th April she was still gray, and yes, we called her then 'Long ear' , but I gave her name Fina, at first. Soon she changed her gray color to brown and her ear tassels vanished. That was why I did'nt recognize her any more during some weeks. Later in the summer, to make difference between Anja, quite similar to Silk ear, I gave her name Silk ear.

The gray Silk ear:

My avatar is from the fall 2009, that time Jo Uk named her as Long ear (later on she got the name Fina, then Silk ear, at last)!

heh.. all squirrels are not Long ear squirrels, this one e g :D I think I can say now who he is, it's Charley who has very special tassels, furry, fluffy.. He was young little squirrel on that time. I hope we will see him too, later on:

You have probably contributed to keeping them in good health.
Some have terrible scars. Their life must be difficult.
Silk Ears' tassells are beautiful. :D

 Thank you, Macdoum! Yes, their life is not the easiest, but they seem to be brave!

Today Silk ear was here again. Lively, curious, checked all the possible corners and she accepted the water bowl!

Pictures will follow
This is the first photo, our dogs were inside, she was alone this time.
