 Good morning Olga!
I see your squirrel(s) are not really wanting to try the apple. Ours even tried cherries - was very disappointed the cherry stone was not eatable like a nut!
But they are as cute as ever! :loveshower: If I would not have a very nice picture on my wall here ...
Have a nice day and say hello to your squirrels from me

:loveshower: Sounds of spring: snow is melting on the roof

Do you remember the storm in Christmas days. One of the spruces got hurt, it begun to fall down.. The ground where its roots are, were, did not hold. Since that night the spruce leaned towards an other spruce. Yesterday we begun to cut the poor tree down.. It did not want to fall. I am making a video of its destiny. Last night it had fallen down. I saw it lying there on the snow, in the morning.

The day as the half fallen spruce was to be cut down was a bright early spring day. Wood pigeons and some other birds have returned, some birds already are constructing their nest, not to talk about squirrels, they too have breeding time. The beautiful spruce had become dangerous. It was a sad day, the destiny of the precious tree was at hands.

This is a story of a spruce on Squirrel Hill

The last hours of the spruce..

Crepuscule by Terry Devine-King

The spruce did not fall down. We had to leave it as it had been after the stormy night on 28th December 2011. The motor chain saw did not help nor the iron bar. It leaned towards an other spruce's branches. The night came. Squirrels had been hiding the hole day.

***

In the morning I saw it there, lying on the snow. It had fallen down in the night.
That was the story about a spruce on the Squirrel Hill. Today as I finished the third video fragment, a squirrel appeared in the yard.

Music: Advanced Systems by Terry Devine-King.. and some birds on the hill at the end of the video.

The story of the spruce last day, with the music and sound of the chain saw/ordinary saw, is great!!! And isn't it wonderful that spring arrives
Thank you Olga

Bittersweet! Will you plant a new tree for the fallen spruce? It held on bravely!
Is it your husband working with the saw?

But it's nice to see that spring is also arriving at Squirrel Hill!

Thank you, Felis and Lussi

Yes it was him with the sew.

It would be difficult to plant a new spruce on that place. But I believe that there will grow a new spruce on that place on its own. Anyway I am happy that the storm did not hurt the tallest spruce of the hill, this one:
a video made about for one year ago. Squirrels were hideous for some weeks in that time..This spring time it seems to be different.

I was editing the Spruce cut down videos in the morning quite early, at 7:15!

I saw three squirrels then at same time.

The young red hair male squirrel:

Find three squirrels :D

One of them, the young male squirrel run on the same tall spruce seen in the Jean Sibelius spruce on the previous post!

At 7:15 in the morning

I think that this one on the ground, eating sun flower seeds is a female. She can't be that 'fat'..or... She probably has little squirrels on her stomach, :puzzled: hm.. perhaps the baby squirrels have been born already. Let's hope we will see some of them later in the spring!

Olga, your movie chronicle of the fallen spruce is fantastic, very moving. :2thumbsup: You chose just the right music for each segment. You made a very nice tribute to that tree. I hope the wood from it will be used for something, even if only for firewood so you can have fond memories of it when you see it burning & smell its wonderful smoke.

I also thought the video was a very nice memorial of the tree.

:gathering: Me too was surprised about the videos, how dramatic they became. It's the music.. I watched them, and felt almost as if some one else had done them, not me. Yes, and the word 'tribute' is the right word here. We will make firewood of the spruce.. well, there under the trunk are the graves of my three cats and the father Girju of Nanu, and the mother Piki, of Girju.

 Today I saw the same three squirrels. Two of them visited the feeder. First the female:

The next visitor, a male.

I think I saw that he had some kind of wound on his forehead.. but I am not sure. It can be just a seed cover or some other little garbage.

So, there was one more squirrel, but it stayed there under the apple tree. I saw that each of them climbed to the biggest spruce seen behind the window. I don't believe that their nest is there, I have seen them running further. From the spruce they jump to the next pine, and then to the next and so on.. let's hope they have a calm and safety nest where ever it is.
