I see! Could you post the picture here?.. is it allowed to do so? The photo is just lovely! Two squirrel pups, where are they from. What sweet red squirrel babies.. :loveshower:

I have to put one photo of doggies:
..happy Nanu and sleepy Nappu. Nanu follows Nappu everywhere. Of course.

Dancing in the rain:
Nanu had been free and was running around the garden for quite long time, Nanu after her, or side by side.. Normally Nanu does not like to run so much. Now it is different.

I'm afraid I can't post the picture, only the link. For posting the picture I would have to first snatch it from there and then upload it to the bucket and then post it here, and I have a feeling this would be "stealing". But it's good if you could see it! They are so cute!

Nanu and Nappu are having fun in the snow ... so nice!

Charley is looking well, but I can see he's not yet really wearing his winter outfit!

I have been wondering how the seeds can disappear from one of my feeders so quickly, and when i look at Margossas gif, I may have solved the mystery. Great technique

The heat of Nappu is over! :slap: I am so sorry, very sorry. The breeder, who is the real owner of Nappu (till the first litter of Nappu, after which I become the owner of her) was uncertain if she wants Nanu to be the mate for her. I waited that she makes the decision and we had made the deal that only if she accepts Nanu, I'll go with Nanu to the vet to check his eyes - it's on official 'eye paper' each dogs need in this situation.

So, Nanu's heat time was going.. And I phoned to the owner right at the moment I had seen Nappu's first red drops. At last the owner said: Yes!! Nanu is alright (she had checked all Nanu's relatives, siblings, father, father's father and mother, grandmother.. etc as far in time as it ever can be found information in the archives of the health Nanu's line.. So, the owner made her decision: Nanu is alright!

After that I called to all possible dog eye specialists, who make those eye researches. We got the appointment, but we had to wait over the weekend. During that time Nanu and Nappu had to be kept separated! That was too long time.. we, the owner and me, believed that Nappu's hottest days are ahead. We were wrong.

At last we got the paper, but Nappu's season was at the end!

Remember when I told that Nanu does not want eat.. It was the 18th October I noticed it for the first time. (We went to vet and Nanu was X-rayed, there was some tumor to see, but actually it had not caused any problems, not yet, perhaps never on Nanu's life time.) Nappu had no heat time signs then. But: It is possible, that Nanu's reluctance to eat was b c Nappu's heat already was beginning. I should have thought about the thing! But I didn't! (I hate me.. ) Nanu has behaved always like that.. Well, Nappu is my first female dog.. There is no excuse though.. We, we stupid people, we made the mistake with our calculations..

So, Nappu's heat time had begun more than ten days earlier than no-one happened to think about it, just Nanu knew it, but I believed that Nanu had something wrong.. silly me.

Well, let's hope that Nanu will be fine in the next heat time! Let's wish that Nappu's owner does not change her mind!

Anyway, Nanu and Nappu had so fun together, I saw Nanu was SO HAPPY and Nappu too.. Nanu was allowed to try, he was so good, so strong and looked proud out, but soon he realized it was too late. No pups to come this time.

Next time I'll be wiser! It takes 6-7-8 eight months. Then it is spring or summer again. I'll do my best to take good care of Nanu and Nappu..

I am very sorry that the good opportunity is gone.. :(

Margossa! Thank you very much for the squirrel news!!
:loveshower: How lovely post and wonderful photos and gif

Lately I haven't seen any squirrel, but I am sure they will return. We have been quite a lot outdoors with dogs during the last two three weeks, and squirrels does not want to meet dogs! Nor people either, not too close..behind window glass it is different. 8-)

We haven't got snow.. The nature looks a bit miserable, it's gray, so very gray, aspens and birches, maples and willows are naked, as well as the apple trees too, some rotten apples hanging here and there.

Sad news, but we all hope there will be another chance for Nappu and Nanu! I think Nappu was surely happy not being locked away from Nanu this time like the times before! They had so much fun together!
We will keep our fingers crossed for the next time!

Olga, don't be sad. Nanu and Nappu are happy together.
I believe that in the next year all will be better and I will keep my fingers crossed.
Why need each dog check his eyes in this situation?

The squirrels will come again to your feeder when will be colder outdoor.
Your hazelnuts and seeds are tastiest :D

Margossa
1-2% of Sami dogs ( and some other dog races too) have an inheritable eye decease, Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) is a group of genetic diseases seen in certain breeds of dogs. 2% is not much, but if both dogs, the male and female have the symptom in their retina (it can be detected by the vet), it's not safety to get healthy pups. This is very important. It has happened that eyes have not been checked, and that's very sad, be cause these pups will become blind sooner or later.

The official eye certification paper has to be less than 24 months old. Nanu's eyes have been checked almost every other year. Nappu's eyes have been checked too..

Yes, it might be that, Karma. It happens some times, not often, that some dog couple just do not get pups, how well they ever behave together, are friends and love the company of each others... Anyway, Nappu and Nanu had a lovely honey moon. It seems to me that both dogs have already forgotten the 'problem'! :D
