The return migration of White Storks in the Strait of Gibraltar peaks in January. Thousands of storks are crossing from Africa these days. Indeed, most of the Iberian population will return in January, wherein older individuals migrate first. Enormous flocks will stop in the rice paddies of La Janda while others will keep moving on their northbound journey.

TY for shots

chat on youtube:
Black Stork "In der rechten Ecke auf dem Turm ist ein weiteres Nest und 2 Störche."

"Traditionally, the storks would migrate to Africa at this time of year, but their period of migration is getting shorter and shorter. Now they stay in Spain almost the whole year, if you don’t see them in the city, they are probably taking the country air just a few kilometers away.
It is thanks to modern conveniences like the dump, which provides them with a constant food source, that the storks no longer make their way south for the winter. Spain’s rather mild winter climate is an added bonus."

Somebody wrote it in the chat. I saw a bird of prey on the roof of aviaries and that predator was larger than the buzzard visiting Makov every day.
