 Five(!) grey herons appeared in Makov the day before yesterday, maybe the whole heron family. Marushka chased one of them away from the feeder. Now there are three. Do they return from migration and settle here in Makov?

The buzzard is eating chickens, Popelka(or maybe it is Frederik, who knows???) is standing and watching it. Barunek is swimming with "drobotina"(small ducks).

Last week there were even five grey herons at the same time and I guess it may be one family: mom, dad and kids. The buzzard is handicapped(its left eye damaged)

14.17 Now Barunek is swimming in the pond with diving ducks. Vyzhirka(one of them) is standing nearby. Honzik and Marushka stay in the nest.

The coldest morning in Makov. Three tufted ducks are swimming and diving, others are sleeping.

A wild heron unfortunately died, it was a classic battle for surviving (rat race). And they have abbudance of feed at the rescue station to prevent this happening. (Libor Šejna, cheif RS)

It is the one who is standing on the ice and marked the territory. It must be a male.

adult males have breeding plumage - in RS Makov it is Miki (goosander), very remarkable change and Matýsek (tufted duck)
Lyska, eurasian coot: The juvenile is paler than the adult, has a whitish breast, and lacks the facial shield; the adult black plumage develops when about 3–4 months old, but the white shield is only fully developed at about one year old. (wiki)

and this is Barunek http://www.makov.cz/?action=fotobanka&c ... =1904&pg=2 (not the mute swan on "yours" video)

I know about adult males and I noticed that now females also got white feathers on their bellies(Matylda and the new tufted duck).
