Partizánska Ľupča (Slovakia):
It is very hot on the nest this Sunday morning.
A welcome gift of water by Mom / Dad
The cam is really something special, sometimes gets you nice close ups. Some Vid's also there on the page.
Here once again the link, for those interested: http://www.kukaj.sk/projekt/37-bociany-part-lupca

a pair of white storks have started the first (known) breeding attempt in Finland in Koski Tl in SW-Finland.
the news here is unfortunately only in Finnish but there is also a video:
http://yle.fi/uutiset/aarimmaisen_harvi ... eo/7973992
news is released by the YLE (the Finnish Broadcasting Company on May 5th).
the man who is interviewed on the video is titled "Neighbour of White Storks". he is probably the man who has built the artificial nest platform for the storks on his farm although in a typically Finnish modest way says that "some men" built the platform...
as motivation for this work he tells that in 2012 a lonely stork had visited his farm, looking around places. then it was decided to build the platform in hope that the stork would return with a mate. and so the stork did, it just took 3 years.
thank you for the platform!
the man also tells that this nest construction site has been visited by a lot birders and photographers who have come to witness this rare event. hopefully there will not be too many stork tourists to disturb the breeding attempt. fortunately the pole with the platform seems to be situated quite next to a barn in the yard so it should be ok.
(in Finland there is a so-called 'every-man's right': every man is allowed to stroll around fields and forests if one does not do any harm to crops and so on. people's yards and the immediate surroundings are not included in this right, so it is not allowed to go to the yard without asking permission. for example here one can view the storks from the public road.)
