Yesterday Birgit had been for a few hours at the Guadalhorce. 22°C in the shadow with nice weather had to be used. It was just wonderful to come out again and look at the birds!

Yes, you are right, macdoum, Birgit makes such beautiful photos!

Birgit had been for a few days at the Guadalquivir and met lots of feathery friends! As for example this male Eurasian marsh harrier. What a magnificent bird

Since Birgit enjoyed it so much at the Wadden Sea of Chipiona, they shortly before sunset also visited the mouth of the Guadalquivir leading into the Atlantic Ocean! Terrific, because also there they met birds, for example these nice sanderlings:

Many lovely photos -- I especially liked the harriers -- I love watching the ones we have here -- and some of the wading shorebirds.

It’s time to tell you the story of Y.ARS! Y.ARS is the young Black-headed gull which Birgit was able to photograph in the air at the beach of Chipiona. To read the ring number was really difficult and Birgit herself would have given up. But there was one Spanish ornithologist with them and he was successful. After days of research he found out from where the Black-headed Gull was ringed: in the Netherlands!

Ringing is after all not too bad. Until now Birgit always thought nobody is interested in reported ring numbers, because she never got an answer. But, thanks to her Spanish bird friend Rafa, Birgit learned, that you have to make a distinction between reliable and not so reliable projects…

Rafa anyhow was successful also to find out the birth place of the young Osprey 8/SY which they observed September 13 2010 at the Salines at Bonanza! And look here, the Osprey was born at Storkow, Brandenburg, in a nest which is even to be observed via webcam. Maybe some of you experienced 8/SY as a chick!?

The other day Birgit “discovered” a beauty spot between the large concrete hotel buildings at the Mediterranian!
Guadalmansa is just located to that place 10 Kilometers away from her home and Birgit really don’t understand, why, until now, she never had a look before! Maybe because it is not a nature reserve, only the river mouth area, but good enough there is some naturalness remaining. And on the shore Birgit even discoverd a Audouin’s gull:

I sent a sighting (of a Black Cap seen on a birdfeeder in our garden last week and should be migrating to warmer climes ! ) to worldbirds@rspb.org.uk Maybe they can help with our quest ?

That's what I get going there (beside of a few links to I don't know what ...) The domain migracion.net is for sale.

Three of the white storks are almost identificated. Their stories are coming soon. Hopefully I´ll receive the story of the german white stork today (the DER ringed one).
