Do you know how long the snake was? More than a metre?
It seems very long to me and therefore I think it´s a N. natrix but the colouring is rather a tesselata. The light is a bit strange, though.
If it is shorter than I thought it should be a tesselata indeed.

1 metre or shorter. He did not want to collaborate. :D He was fast in August, and the digital camera is slow.
