a raven came for a short visit.

at 15.11 there were two or three little birds eating on the ground. i think they were yellowhammers. then a slightly bigger bird landed on top of the salt pole. i first looked that ok, it's a jay, but when it stayed standing there and i saw that the little birds had frozen immobile on the ground i began to suspect that it might be a hawk of some sort. i think that the little birds had the same thought because they all didn't move at all for about 10 minutes! neither did the bird on the saltpole....

after that 10 minutes the little birds on the ground began to make very small moves... finally the bird landed on the ground and i saw that it was a jay after all. poor little birds: they were scared stiff for their lives. :slap:

at 16.25 it was rather dark already but the lights had not turned on yet. ravens were calling to each other as they were going to sleep.

...but then my picture froze at 16.26. what happened? :puzzled:
EDIT: it seems that for some reason my picture just jammed and froze. i restarted the VLC and now at 16.32 the light is on and there are still some raven calls..

good story, ame, about the suspicious jay and frightened little birds! :D
poor creatures.... but they were lucky.

now 2 furries came to the feeding place.
.... and they vanished to the bushes again.

there were two furries but now they both are gone.

EDIT: Kuremari :hi:
i recorded the whole 10+ minutes, remembering how Fleur managed to record a sparrowhawk cathing prey on the Siga2-ground last year. i was hoping to repeat that. but no luck for me: it was just a jay. lucky for the little birds though. :D

Basically you have to make a screenshot and load it to a host like Photobucket, but lots of information about it, you find here:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21
“One can measure the greatness and the moral progress of a nation by looking at how it treats its animals” (Mahatma Gandhi)
"You can judge a man's true character by the way he treats his fellow animals" (Paul McCartney)

Hello everybody :hi:. It´s so nice to see this place again! :D :headroll:

Welcome, Kryddan. If you are interested, you can hear the sound of the wolf pack which was near the feeding ground in 2009. The video is here http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/2841
