The RD's are also beginning to establish themselves in Norway, and are not wanted here either. They are on the black list in the 'artdatabank' (Art = species, I don't know the english word :help: ) We are encouraged to report any tracks of RD's, living or dead.....Experience shows that the majority of introduced species can have large, and difficult predictable effects, on the local fauna and flora. RD's are important in the spreads of rabies and parasites, and may affect ground- breeding birds. Especially vulnerable are colonial nesting water birds.

And now we can witness how "it" is done ...

Edit: okay, YouTube finally managed it:
“One can measure the greatness and the moral progress of a nation by looking at how it treats its animals” (Mahatma Gandhi)
"You can judge a man's true character by the way he treats his fellow animals" (Paul McCartney)

Google Translator: Interesting. The Estonian original has no indication of direct mode of address, simply "And silly things are done ...". So GT obviously switched over to its drama and social relations phrases section; Estonian can - just - have this backhanded way of telling someone off, something like the nurse and patient "we", meaning "you!" Clever GT, really.
Felis silvestris wrote: How does Sweden defend "itself" against the "attack" by racoon dogs? :puzzled: Not much one can do if they just sneak in, except being on the lookout and kill whatever is seen ... ----------------------------
Must and is done of course, but RDs are difficult and tiresome to hunt. A major idea is to keep them from breeding successfully by tracking pairs down and yes, killing (This is NOT the reason why the Estonian RDs were GPS-collared).
It is a delicate and difficult balance. But some take more "rights" than others. RDs were not supposed to be here to start with. And after all, we don't accept that a larger and stronger neighbour would simply take over our house, or food.
