Partnership Against Wildlife Crime Scotland (PAWS)
"Wildlife crime can involve anything from poisoning a golden eagle to cracking open freshwater pearl mussels. Rare species are put at risk, more familiar ones, like the badger or deer, suffer cruel torture and death.
In fact, wildlife crime threatens a far greater range of creatures and plants than you might imagine, even damaging the environment on which they depend. In short, it's the illegal destruction and theft of animals, plants and habitats, both in the countryside and urban areas.
It damages Scotland's environment and its reputation and we have a duty to the rest of the world to look after our internationally important species and habitats.
The Partnership for Action Against Wildlife Crime in Scotland - PAW Scotland - includes the police, land managers, conservationists and the Scottish Government. We have come together to fight this crime against Scotland.
Can you help? Yes. We want to give you as much information and advice as we can, to help you, to help us."

RSPB encourages Halton kids to become nature detectives, September 2011
"The RSPB is looking for younger wildlife lovers to take part in a new fundraising scheme to protect birds. The Save Birds Of Prey appeal has been set up in order to help the RSPB investigate some of the hundreds of crimes that are committed each year against birds of prey such as hen harriers, peregrine falcons and golden eagles. In 2009 alone, the RSPB received more than 260 reports of birds of prey being killed."

Scotland's birds of prey 'face decline' over poisoning
„Scotland's rarest birds of prey risk decline because of deliberate poisoning, the RSPB has warned.
RSPB Scotland said 29 birds had been confirmed as illegally poisoned in 2010, but warned the number could be the "tip of the iceberg". Most incidents took place in areas managed for driven grouse shooting.
Official tests revealed 13 buzzards, seven red kites, four golden eagles, two peregrines and one white-tailed sea eagle were deliberately poisoned.”
