I forget to look here.
When I think, I'm already doing other things.

I am sure going to find out tomorrow. My eyes are too sleepy to do it tonite. I have a good friend that has a big farm and stays in the woods a lot. I will ask him too if he ever sees magpies and how big they are here. He knows all kinds of wild life and what they eat etc. (Fountain of Knowledge) LOL :offtobed: Nite Again, Nola

I had a bird on pics on 19th June - isn't it the same bird? After my question somebody answered telling from a photograph who takes pics and one of them shows this bird, too. One must have more time to look after that, just at this moment I will put pics here from the bear tonight and then I have to look what my cake is doing. Perhaps it will be black instead of brown?
See you later - Bleggi

edit: I had a phonecall and the pics of the bear from last night have to wait 8-)

edit 2nd: Image red vine cake - after it is cold enough I put powdered sugar on it :loveshower:

The bird - the bird - what's the name? Perhaps is this the solution from Aare Udras:

Can anybody tell us the name of the bird in English? "Alutagusel käimas"

One can go crazy while trying to take pictures, but the cam doesn't like it. "No, not when you like to do - only if I will..." . The same happened Felis and surely also to others here :slap: .
Poor fingers and poor keys..

Yes, sometimes it does not work like we want it to work! :bash:
When I saw Fleur's photos, I said that's Bleggi's bird! I think the Estonian there means something like "going to Alutaguse" (at least that's what Google translates), but I have been looking through my bird book and now I stole a photo

of a "Misteldrossel" - Mistle Thrush - Turdus viscivorus. Can it be this one? It's the biggest of the thrushes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mistle_Thrush says about 27 cm.

Edit: I looked now into Fleur's film, I don't think it is the same bird, this seems to be bigger! Did you see, there's another smaller bird on the tree roots towards the end of the film!

Felis: when I look at my book about birds I found a "Ringdrossel" Ring ouzel "Turdus torquatus". This bird has a white ribbon like a half moon on its throat and is only about 2 cm smaller than the Mistle Trush.
Image (from Wikipedia)
On this pic the bird is a bit brown, but in the wood we cannot see exactly the colour and otherwise I think it belongs to the room they live.

Image my one I made a bit bigger - is not clear but better than the little one
It is only a try to find out - one day (perhaps) we will get the exact answer from a bird specialist...
Greetings and a nice rest of the day
Bleggi

I have put it into the "What bird is this?" thread, maybe it's more likely someone looks there!

Have a nice afternoon, Bleggi! The cake looks delicious!

it could well be this bird.
A Mistle Thrush
But I think , like Felis says, he's something larger ?

Perhaps we are still out, what is the right one?

I saw "him" again in the afternoon, and "he" had friends there as well, sitting at the place where the big bear lies down, but then ravens came and chased them away. The problem is, that one can't really say what the size is, and if the bird you saw sitting on that branch is of the same kind or not.
Maybe someone looks into the thread with the questions and can tell us.

Hello,
I'm new here, This afternoon at 15.28 I think I saw a raccoon-dog at the bear site. Is this possible or is it something different? I took a picture but do not no how to upload it.

Greetz.

Hi Johannes! Welcome to the forum! It is quite possible that you saw a raccoon dog, we have seen quite a few of them already.

Photos you have to first upload to a host like Photobucket and post the link here. If you have time you can look through the technical questions site here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21, a lot of things are explained there. Otherwise, just ask, if we can help, we will certainly do! Have a good time here and lots of interesting sightings!
