Kitty KCMO wrote: Thank you for that information, Jan. I can only hear them faintly, so it is hard for me to know if there is one or are two. Actually, when I first heard it (before seeing your post telling about pygmy owl) I thought it was my breathing as I have asthma that flares up sometime. I thought, what, so I need to use my inhaler now?" Then I held my breath & still heard the peeping sound, so I knew it was from the cam. :rotf:
It was very interesting to hear pygmy owl so late in season (usually they tend to sing earlier in the spring) and and so late in night (usually they are active in morning and evening dusks). With regard to the pair, voice of female is very high pitched, completely different from male voice. So if you has heard two peeping voices, then there was two males.

Well, there were not two males singing hjuk-hjuk (one hjuk every second second  ) but some interacting sound with another bird +the males vibrating irritation-sound huhuhuhuh.
Maybe there are flown out chicks nearby.

Here one can hear different owls in late May, although they don't sing as much as in March.

Raccoon dog is there back by the big pine, eating just now. Actually, I think there are two. Hmm, well, maybe not. Hard to see as it / they move about in the shrubbery back there.

A raccoon dog works hard to get something to eat back behind the pine trees.

Yes, at one point it looked like two, before I started recording, but then I was not so sure & decided it might actually only be one moving about the bushes.

:D I've only seen the one behind the pine tree

One night I saw a bright point and I thought of a human in the dark in the forest... :puzzled:
Tonight, it's two bright spots ... like the eyes of a cat that reflect light ... all animals do not approach the illuminated part of the forest :bash:

Good night

 Goodnight, Agatheb2k.

P.S., I think I hear the pygmy owl peeping again far in the background.
