I was scared when I read that the fur of those caterpillars is dangerous -- because earlier today I photographed some and I tried touching them, but I guess ours just called Tent Caterpillars or Western Tent Caterpillars are not because as far as I can tell, Wikipedia does not mention that. Phew :innocent:

(The Minnesota Bear Study people seem to suggest that bears eat the caterpillars.)

03:09 That bear is not going to smell swet after lying in that seals carcass..
He stood up for a moment to 'mark' the tree next to there.

03:03 Now the bear is rubbing his head along the 'stuff' there. Ugghh..then he seemed to roll in it and now he's moved off cam to the right.
It was not Sven the big one.

Goodnight bear and all the viewers too. I'm.. :offtobed:

I missed the bear, I had the cam open, but was all tuckered out after my adventures and I was napping.

Now the cam is full of crows -- several hidden in the grass.

I find it amazing that you hear the difference between male and female.
I will have to pay attention to differences in the sound.
hopefully I can record and you can tell me the difference, once
I have often recorded sound, but do not want to return to search that moments

Hi Fleur
Yeah, that's the male calling.

I actually found a recording with the rather special female bubbling sound, it's after 54 seconds in here:

Not sure if I understand you there :puzzled: but the sound can be heard even if a male is not singing.

Edit: it's very alike Little Grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis) singing but they don't live in the forest
