hello!
i recorded a clip of the toidumaja when two pidgeons were feeding there at 13.14. they were followed by a jay and a great tit was keeping an eye on it.

In comparison with last season, bullfinches visit a feeding trough much less often

hello!
the last time i was not sure whether there were three pigeons eating but now i am: there are three and they all try to get there at the same time. the feeder seems to be very low. i think the birds whose heads can be seen low in the picture while they are queing to the feeder are standing on the ground (actually on the snow on the ground).
i like the way pigeons say: ppurrrrr - ppurrrrr - ppurrrrrr!.
a little later there was a green finch with a great tit.

at 13.49 there were more greenfinches and great tits atthe feeder.
i think that the great tit who comes to the twig on the right and then goes to get a seed was a female: the stripe on its belly was rather narrow. and i think there was a female greenfinch in the back on the right and the one on the opening was male.

here's the willow tit (Parus montanus) visiting the feeder at 16.05. i heard its voice but i did not manage to capture that on the video. in the beginning here it's picking a grain to the upper right side.
i took some pictures, too. it looks so much the same as venegor's bird.

Love the pics of the birds and appreciate identifications. I wasn't sure what the small ones were. Pigeons (or doves) are obvious! I took a baby Rock Pigeon home from our wildlife hospital (the hospital does not treat non-natives). Kept him overnight and then transferred him to someone who knew how to raise him. We called him Chico. We were wrong -- it's Chica.

how did you find out the real sex of your pidgeon? with cats it usually happens after a couple of months when your let's say Peter the cat gives birth to a healthy quadruplet of kittens...

Her behavior. None of the actions of a male pigeon. The rehabber who took her (40+ years experience with birds, says she's female). The only way I can tell is when a male is actively pursuing a female. Then it's obvious.
There are two definitive tests: DNA or surgery. Well, make that three. She lays an egg.
