Juhuuuu ---- early start of the cam this season with an excellent and sharp view
It will probably still take some time until we will see the first osprey here, but who knows what we will see in the meantime ....

In last season during the camera installation was visible that there were fresh twigs on nest, brought maybe by White-tailed Eagles. Therefore we decided to start this season a bit earlier with new camera, just in first day of spring. Yesterday three guys (Omar, Ott and Urmas) used good weather and finally camera stream launched (with help of Techno-Urmas, who participated remotely). In the nest no fresh material this time.
Owners of the nest we need to wait probably one month, yet. Before that hopefully we can see also some stop over Ospreys and the ring readings would be perfect.
As our nest cameras data take a lot of space in server (better stream needs also more space), we start saving later. Maybe once we will ask help for enhance server capacity (to buy several additional hard disks for EENet).
Since there is no birds in nest, we can look the weather conditions in Võru county, southern Estonia.
For second Osprey cam we probably install old camera, but if a godparent (suppoting one) will appear, then there is still time to prepare also new camera system, like here. According Latvian colleagues experience - most of observers of nest cameras prefer better quality... so they install also AXIS cam on their Osprey nest this year.

What kind of files are on there? I clicked on one and it had to download. But my computer can't seem to open it and I've never seen or heard of an mkv file, before.
Thanks!
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Hi Chimega,
all LK-video files are .mkv-files. Usually one has to download them first, then one can open and watch them with a program like VLC player.
But when you use Firefox browser and click on the .mkv-file you want to see, it gives you the option to download it or watch it in the browser. It will take a bit time until it opens (may depend on the "power" of your device).
