Madis arrives with what looks like some kind of nesting compost. Oxana's cheeping reminds me of Nori. A bird flew by the trees. Madis flew off right away. Oxana quiet again. Just sitting.

Madis brings a stick. Oxana complains. Another bird is flying around. Oxana looks this time. Madis is off again.

Oxana is looking around for the other bird. Quietly. Madis brings more nesting compost. Oxana complains. Madis is off again right away. Oxana makes no move to do nest repairs.

Will Madis realize his mistake soon? :slap:

Mating or attacking? Madis is high up near the neck.
No one goes, behind the last one. ;)

They do look like the two birds meierlein, Bea and me (and possible others too) observed earlier this afternoon. Also then they came from the right and flew towards the left.

And thanks Kessi for that link. Will go read it now, although my German isn't what it used to be, but as a Dutchman I should still be able to understand most of it when reading it.

Maybe Madis don't want to mate with Piret because of the transmitter on her back? Could it be that it disturbs him by mating her? :puzzled:

Starling, you absolutely right - things are mixed up here now.

This is was Urmas posted on May, 31st, 2012

Initially we thought it to be main Osprey cam for Estonian part of ESTLAT project, but the eagles decided in other way. The pair there in territory, they build up other nest about 400m away and did not prefer our camera nest (though it is much higher).
At the moment I don't know if the branches are brought to nest by the same male of nearby occupied nest or is there additional individual sometimes visiting kalakotkas2 camera nest?

Wasn't it in a pretty desolate condition?
The nest cam was a bit out of focus but otherwise working well, and at the end of the season some osprey was seen there feeding a youngster sometimes Also Madis has been observed there last year. The nest itself looked to me (from what I can remember) in an ok condition, nothing what a determined osprey pair couldn't fix. Maybe Urmas can tell us more about this nest?

Anyway, the cam from this nest from last year is now taken down and moved to the nest of Ilmar, some 70 km away, so we can watch him too.

EDIT: Thanks Bea and Starling for sorting that out. Somewhere in my mind the 400 m was stuck, but it was the 4 km. Anyway, that's still very close to this nest.
