Re: ESTLAT Osprey Nest Webcam Discussion 2012
About the shooting -
A large-scale armed forces exercise, Operation Spring storm, is on in Estonia just now. It is to end on May 19th.
Urmas wrote in his introduction of the osprey cameras http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/13110 that at Osprey camera 2 you might listen in to shooting exercises. The osprey cameras are about 4 km apart; sound may well carry over to Camera 1.
So it is probably not hunting.

Thanks Liïs, that explains it, but it remains strange they do that during breeding season of the birds. It also explains the heavy bangs.
Edit: and the continuing of it during the real heavy rain

Life is miserable for the ospreys today. I can hear the rain pouring down by the microphone.
Anyone know the temperature in cam area today ?

THank you Liis, am pleased it was probebly not shooting and also Madis did not seem upset at the time, It was extremly loud. I would think there must have been a fish as Piret was away for some time. Camera seems to have frozen but looks like Madis on nest. Was sure it was Piret when I looked a few minutes ago. Now it looks like Piret on nest.

And the funny thing is, that I first thought it was Piret who brought the fish for Madis, but I must have it wrong

Nancy, maybe you can watch it at Pontu? It was very strange but it looked as if Piret brought a fish for Madis. The time is the same is the posting is.

The last 2 visits Madis arrived without bringing fish, so Piret went hunting for herself, I assume.
Now she is back, and Madis flies away.

Madis arrives at the nest (no fish). Piret doesn't let him on the eggs. He does a little redecorating and then flies away.
