19.00 Madis came with a rather big fish.

Piret eat first some bites before she started feeding. All 3 stood ready, but first Uno and since Elo turned away without having anything and now Nori is the only one who is getting food.

and now I have kitchenduty so I cann´t watch for a while

I know it's the way of nature. But to see how the fish Madis has brought is still alive and defends itself is not nice.

19:00 I think it's a Carp.

19:00 - Shortly after delivery Madis flies off again (top left corner).




All fish is for Nori while Uno and Elo enjoy a lazy sunday evening in the sun.




19:14 - Uno and Elo decide to have a look at the fish too. Nori turns his head and tells Elo to wait.




Uno then decides to excersise his flapping techniques, while Elo just waits for his turn. Nori continues eating.




19:17 - Piret drags the fish closer to Uno and starts feeding him. Nori and Elo stay behind and pick up some morsels and spoiled guts.




Shortly after Elo lies down again, and Nori does some re-arranging of twigs and small branches while Uno is still being fed.




Apart from some spilled morsels she picked up, Elo hasn't eaten so far during this session.

19:44 - Feeding of the chicks is done. Uno moves away and the meaty tailpiece is for Piret (who ate some big chunks in between while feeding Nori and Uno).




Nori was interested in some more bites, and moved towards Piret who's eating some juicy offal.



Uno and Elo work together on the branch which Nori put there previously. Nori himself inspects the nest bowl for possible spilled morsels.




19:54 - Piret flies off to the cam stand. Soft "chup chup chup"-sounds from the chicks.

20:37 - Delivery of a rather small fish (a roach I think). Nori seems the first, and so far only, one who's interested.




20:44 - Feeding done already. Nori waddled back to Uno and Elo.




Piret eats her gut-spaghetti again after the feeding.

20:59 - Piret lands on the nest with a branch, and finds a suitable place for it, closely watched by her offspring.




Mother Piret and daughter(?) Elo work together on this one (the very same branch which Nori moved previously and which Uno and Elo moved too).




After that some more re-arranging of branches by mum & the kids, and then Piret flew off to upstairs and the chicks huddled together again.

23:57 - It's pitch black, but one of the parents just left the camera stand with some screams. Shortly after the same screams a bit further away.

23:59 - The parent is still screaming in the distance. An intruder somehwere? No sounds from the nest.

00:14 - The parent landed briefly on the camera stand, sat there a few seconds and left again with some screams.

01:47 - Sounds of a large bird in the distance followed by some movement on the camera stand by one of the parents. Parent stayed on the camera stand.

5:13 Nori is full, now it is Elo's turn.

That was Uno, not Elo.

Elo had moved away, and Uno had taken her place and got fed from the tailpiece by Piret. When Piret lost her grip on the tailpiece, Uno picked it up, put his own foot on it and tore off some smaller morsels before he decided to swallow the rest.

Hi Nancy, I made a couple of screenshots of that episode last night/this morning, but couldn't access imageshack for some reason, and it was way beyond bedtime for me, but here they are:


04:59 - Madis has just delivered a fish, stumbles over some branch and relocates it.




05:01 - Nori gets food. Elo is still laying down and Uno gets on his feet.




05:21 - Nori more than satisfied and moves away. Both Uno (closest to Piret) and Elo get food.




05:25 - Elo is huddling down next to Nori, while Uno (who hasn't moved from his spot) tears off some morsels from the tailpiece he picked up.




05:26 - It's hard work and Uno decides it's easier to swallow the rest of that tailpiece unceremoniously while Piret watches it happen.




Hope this will clear it up a bit. :)

Lots of wingercizing!! When will they be fledging?? They are so beautiful and I love the noises they make, the little clucking sounds! So happy Nori has grown up. I was so worried about her when she was teeny tiny!! Glad I kept watching this family!!
