7:00 Intruder in the area?

Madis and Piret were both mostly off the nest from 6-7 AM - both made brief visits.

At 7:02, there were a lot of chirps from a very different voice, and Piret, who was on the nest, went into full protective mode. She watched an osprey (or two?) fly around the nest, in the near distance.

After 10 minutes, everything settled down, and she left at 7:14 for a minute or two, then returned with a branch for the nest.

During all of this, the two older chicks were either play-fighting with each other, lookinng around, or flat.

Video would be much better, but I only got snapshots.

Madis brought a very large fish (salmon?) It took some time for Piret to get it loose from Madis' talons.

Some minutes from this afternoon:

15:40 Piret was in the nest, noises from upstairs, Madis landed. At first I thought that he brought food, but later I checked the video and saw he came again “empty-handed” and left the nest with the remainder of a fish.
According to Pontu he might have brought this prey at 15:14/15:15, but that´s just an assumption.

Here the Pontu pictures...

...and here the video from 15:40: Madis “steals” fish. He is pretty dumb quick. 8-)

Hi

Could anyone give me an idea why C3 isn't developing faster? I realize that it is about 5 days apart from C1...

Aloha from Hawaii :-)

June 30

Hello, shshen ~ we think that #3 did not get as much food as s/he might have needed in the beginning - but s/he seems to be catching up now after getting several substantial feedings. I have seen a difference in the last two days (more dark feathers).

One of the little ones -- Uno I think, practiced his eagle eye on me, while Piret (I think) shook a fish off of her talons.

The little ones are panting (and Papa is moving the furniture around). I think it must be kind of warm sitting there in the bright sunshine.

opened shortly before 10 oclock , all were sleepy - chicks seemed very satisfied. But about 10 Piret found a piece of fish in nest and began feeding. The chicks weren´t eager to have food but chick 1 and especially 2 did nevertheles take some bites and in the end chick 3 woke up and got a nice share. Piret did take the last, tailpiece, herself.

Hello shshen and good morning Everyone!

You can see the real slight difference between them in this picture, when they were same age.

Good morning all.

It is not so nice all the gunshooting in the distance, but with the sound low, we miss a lot of the comings and goings of the Osprey's. Dilemma :puzzled:
