Re: ESTLAT Osprey Nest Webcam Discussion 2012
Mother took off. Is there no danger of other birds coming in to take this chicks?

Piret again arrives at the nest with a fish. This one she got herself somewhere from.
Edit: and not a small one. I see it now she has turned to the other side.

Machteld, she is not clumsy, but teaching the chicks to reach for the food, so the leftovers won't fall in the nestbowl.
All birds do that.
Edit: and the chicks are quiet, so not hungry anymore.

Hoi Jopi. it looks very clumsy, standing so far from the chicks. And the youngest only got one little bit, not much more. As you already guessed I'm Dutch as well, but don't know how to put it in my profile afterwards.

welcome Machteld
I think they also stand away from the chicks so they won't stand on them -- I have noticed on the Lesser Spotted Eagle nest, mom seems to be standing closer as the chick gets bigger.

Hallo Alice, thank you for your welcome. Indeed they have very big feet, so they don't have to stay too close, but the little one could'nt reach the food, so had no proper breakfast yet.

With the small beeping sounds Piret makes after feeding is almost done, she urges the chicks to get some more, if they don't react to it anymore by opening their beaks, they have had enough and Mom stops the feeding. ( I do not know this from the Osprey's but all birds feed like this)

Madis takes the large Salmon with him. Maybe he needs it, so he can bring it back in 10 and be the MAN
Edit:Piret doesn't do anything to stop him.

he was jopie!
haven´t time for looking constantly, so I don´t know if he brought anything, but don´t think so because Piret looked so much at his talons as if she didn´t believed what she saw - and then he took off. It was around 12
12.28 when I had a look again Madis again was in nest and Piret feeding. Madis did flew again. The chicks seemed to be well feeded, they didn´t beg much and Piret then ate and I think she ate the rest of the fish

14.19 Piret suddenly left nest
14.20 Madis arrived "emptyhanded", the chicks woke up, but he just rearranged a twig
14.22 Piret came back to nest and Madis left. Piret took a walk around the nest and did then settle on chicks/egg
And still no sight to junior the third, and because of wind also difficult to hear
