By the way, Wikipedia says about the Osprey: "It typically takes fish weighing 150–300 grams (5–10 oz) and about 25–35 centimetres (10–14 in) in length, but the weight can range from 50 to 2000 grams (2–68 oz)."

It appears as if Madis often prefers the heavier specimens.

Again both feeding? We call something like that: it's a day after the fair. They were just very well fed.
Madis flies away.

Number 1 still in for a few bites

first welcome to new members in forum :D

Haven´t had time for looking during the day and just for a short time in the evening – so thanks to all others for all updates incl. pictures and videos from the events of the day :2thumbsup:

19.50 when I opened both parents were in nest, Piret feeding and Madis eating.
Image
Looking in the Punto archive Piret is covering the chicks at 19.46, 19.47 Madis has arrived with a fish, Piret is standing and a piece of fish which on earlier pics was covered too by her tail is to see. 19.48 this piece of fish is gone and probably it´s what Piret use for her feeding, and Madis is eating his own fish. All three chicks are up and begging, chick 3 in front.
This was also the situation when I opened. I didn´t see chick 3 get anything, mainly chick1, but 2 and 3 seemed satisfied, turned away right after.

19.53 But in in few minuts Pirets fish was gone. Then she also turned toward Madis, looked as if she wanted to take over his fish. Also chick 1 turned towards Madis and Madis began then feeding chick 1
Image

19.55 Piret still wanted the fish but couldn´t get her beak in it from that position so she flew of nest and landed after a short while at the other side of Madis
Image

19.57 but it didn´t help much because after a while with her starring at the fish he then took the fish in the beak and turned around and continued eating until he was satisfied and then left nest at 20.00
Image

20.05 Piret took his leftover and began feeding but just chick 1 was interested, then she was picking up what was wasted during feeding and 20.06 she covered chicks again

Hello Manu, nice video – it´s probably Piret, because she´s spends the most time with the chicks and is always there in the evening. It seems to be windy… :D

You´re right, it´s often difficult to say who is who, if you can´t see the legs (Madis, the male has a ring on the right leg, Piret, the female, is unringed).
b.h-p brought another special distinguishing mark to my attention - Piret has a very special feather on the left side of her back (see pictures below).

Image
Piret = female, no ring, special feather
Image
Piret, special feather, no ring
Image
Madis = Male, ring on the right leg. He is smaller than the female

With thanks to b.h-p for the hint!

All peaceful on the nest. Piret preening and chicks awake.
I am presuming No 1 has the least distinctive white stripe down his/her back as this disappears as they grow.
No1 becomming very active and getting too near the edge of the nest for my liking, wanting to see the big wide world.
Has now stopped advancing and is settled.
I think Madis and Piret will have to raise the the barriers some more to keep them in.
It still amazes me how 4 days can make such a difference in size, but little one is holding his own.

Feeding time and luckily the wee one is at the front in between the big brutes. Fingers crossed he gets a good share.
