And the egg is "talking' a lot. Without the wind it is great to have headphones on, all the birds, wonderful.

Yes, looks like a hole, jopie. A hatching today or tomorrow would be still withing the normal range, wouldn´t it?jopie wrote:21.15

Machteld, welcome If you have any questions about using the forum, I am sure many of us would be glad to help (and the Admins have a few magic buttons. ) We tend to have different topics (threads) for different subjects so that we know where to find information later on. If you look at the main index of the Forum, you will see the different areas listed, including a social area for general "chat."
edit: goodnight, Jopie, thank you for all the reporting today!

Again thank you to all who have posted on here today. Glorious picture of all the family in the evening sunshine and of Madis trying to feed the chicks.
It is unusual for the male to feed the chicks, but I have seen it done a couple of years ago when the female became ill on a nest in Scotland and the male bird fed the chicks until she recovered.
Thought I saw a large crack in third egg yesterday, so expected a hatching today.
It is a joy to watch these beautiful birds and I never tire of doing so.

It is still very dark, but the birds are singing. I hear a loud crash as Madis lands on the camera support. Piret starts to chirp. (How long is "night" there now? about an hour? It seems there is almost always some light in the sky.)

Piret gets up, leaves the nest. I can see the 2 chicks and the small face of the 3rd chick through the hole of the egg (right next to the chick on the right site). Piret returns with a stick.
4:22
The 3rd Chick hatched!! the egg is open, I can see the chick turn around, all chicks are chirping, think they are hungry, but momma broods again.
