Re: ESTLAT Osprey Nest Webcam Discussion 2012
Hello, this is Carmen from Spain!
I've arrived here from a news site called Meneame, someone there spoke about this webcam and now I'm addicted to these beautiful ospreys
It's a pleasure to know that I'm not the only one haha.
Nice to meet you all!

Hello Carmen, welcome!
Monday, June 25th, 2012
03:55 Piret is away now for a pretty long time, since I switched on the cam about 10 minutes ago , the chicks are very upset and I hope, she comes back soon.
04:02 Piret returns I could not see if she brought a stick or something else with her.
I think the oldest chick got darker at its whole body. Feathers start to grow slowly I think.

Piret was brooding the chicks, and that big fish was on the left. Then, it was gone. Here is a clue from Pontu as to where it went.

5:52 - MADIS just flew off the nest! I had better investigate,
5:54 Madis returns, with a huge fish! How did he catch it, and de-head it, in 2 minutes??
10:55 Piret quickly shows up

I cannot imagine that "punky" is in the best most comfortable spot for Piret.

Good morning, Piret back with a twig, starts feeding
Edit: 10.12 Pirets stops feeding. They all had several bites, Little one would have liked some more but was pushed backwards for a while by nr 2, who was the first one to be fed.

Did the little one get fed? I walked in just at the very end as she cleaned up the nest and covered them all over.jopie wrote:10.02

Nancy, about your post of 5.54 with the large beheaded fish. It is such a nice clean cut, almost like it was done with a knife. Doesn't look as if Madis beheaded that fish Surely not within 2 minutes!

10.58 I saw a end of a feeding – it seemed that all 3 chicks had so much for then that they all turned away.
According to the Punto archive Madis was in nest 10.50 probably picking up the fish that was there to the left for Piret. 10.51 Piret had the fishnd the chicks are ready for getting food. 10.52 Madis was away.
12.03 Madis came to nest. Picked up the fish that was there and began eating, although Piret did protest. But he took fish to other side of nest – in front of cam. – while Piret got up. So difficult to see, but clearly he offered food to the chicks too
12.11 Madis flew off and Piret went back to cover the chicks again - still fish in nest

Feeding (didn't see the start) The pine cone is closer to the nestbowl now a toy for the chicks? I remember the LSE from last year did the same, at a certain time they brougt a pine cone to the nest. This one was here already but has been replaced.
Edit 12.52 Chicks are satisfied, Piret eats much, seems to be hungry.
