17:05 One bird in the nest
17:15 It´s Piret, the female. She gets up several times
17:53 Piret leaves the nest. Maybe she´s "upstairs"
17:55 Chirping, Madis arrives at the nest, looks around and sits down
18:20 Male still in the nest, I closed the cam

Piret, the female osprey, leaves the nest at 17:53

sorry I haven´t had much time the last days - then thanks for reports and pics to all

today when I opened, Madis stood at the nestrim as he just has arrived (which I also read from Maerthas report he was  )
17.55

one of them has lost a long feather from a wing - before laying down Madis moved it a bit
a selection from a Punto pic. - with the timestamp 17.55

19:25 - 19:55 The same bird in the nest. Hi b.h-p ! If there was no change after your note, it must be still Piret. Is she moulting?
Pontu picture from 19:42 http://pontu.eenet.ee/kalakotkas/2012-0 ... -19-42.jpg

19:56 Madis is back with a headless fish/a part of a fish, Piret leaves the nest with the food (see video). I closed the cam at 20:00

This was the delivery...

...and this was the fish

Pontu documentation:
20:00-20:08 One bird in the nest http://pontu.eenet.ee/kalakotkas/2012-0 ... -20-08.jpg
20:09 Both in the nest, probably Piret, the female, returned http://pontu.eenet.ee/kalakotkas/2012-0 ... -20-09.jpg
20:10-20:52 One osprey on the eggs, always the same position http://pontu.eenet.ee/kalakotkas/2012-0 ... -20-10.jpg, so I think there was no change since 20:09 and it´s still Piret

20:52 I opened the cam
21:01 The osprey gets up for some seconds, the right leg is visible, no ring: it was probably Piret all the time since 20:09
21:18 It´s raining since a while http://pontu.eenet.ee/kalakotkas/2012-0 ... -21-23.jpg
20:30

21:01 The osprey gets up, no ring on the right leg, it´s the female

From late afternoon until dark I saw
17.55 Madis in nest
19.02 Piret back in nest - it looks as she is loosing feathers
Image

20.05 Madis in nest ( I missed Madis coming with fish – thanks Maertha for catching that  )
20.08 Piret went back, might have brought a twig which she arranged at nestrim – Madis covered eggs, he has raindrops on his back
Image
20.09 Madis about leaving
Image

20.09 Madis left, and Piret in nest the rest of the times I looked until dark and she was wet

As an experiment I have looked an awfull lot of Punto pictures from the archive of the day through to see how much is to be “read” from these. A rough, with intervals of 1 hour, look during the day gave the impression that Piret was in nest the whole day – but looking further and then again with more narrow intervals another impression turned up……… This is what was caught – but I have probably missed something:

5.35 – 5.36 a shift from Piret to Madis
5.50 Piret was back again, they were both standing in nest for 2 minuts, first at 5.54 Piret covered the eggs and
5.55 Madis has left, Piret on eggs
8.57 empty nest, the shadow of one upstairs, who has left at 8.59
9.00 Madis in nest
9.01 Madis still on eggs, Piret at the nestrim perhaps arranging a twig she has brought?
9.02 Piret on eggs
10.06 the shadow of one upstairs and one in nest with the tail end towards cam. - it´s Madis, is to see one minut later
10.16 Piret is back to nest, Madis has left
10.22 still Piret in nest, she is looking as if Madis just has left. A new twig, birch? Is to see in the left side of the pic.
11.24 Piret still in nest, 11.25 the nest is empty, 11.26 Piret is back
11.50 Madis brought a fish for Piret
Image

12.17 Madis still in nest, Piret in background flying back to nest
12.18 now Madis has left and Piret is working at the nestrim, perhaps she brought new nestmaterial?
13.18 Piret in nest, but away 13.19 & 13.20, and back again 13.21
13.52 still Piret in nest
13.53 & 13.54 nest is empty
13.56 – 14.00 Piret on nestrim, looking alert around
14.01 – 14.06 nest is empty
14.07 Madis on eggs
14.13 Madis on eggs and Piret standing at his side, 14.15 Piret now alone in nest on eggs
16.20 Madis is back - did he bring a fish, it may look so or ?
Image

16.50 Piret back standing on nestrim and from 16.52 covering the eggs
17.53 & 17.54 empty nest

June 2

I had to look at Pontu archives for early pictures, but it seems that if there was any action, most of it was missed.

It seems to have rained most of the night too - Piret was very wet yesterday evening late, and again this morning (thanks for report, Nancy  )

when I opened
9.43 Piret was in nest - it´s a very windy day, but at least Piret seemed to be dry again
9.46 Madis payed a short visit to nest, without bringing anything
10.10 Piret flew with few calls
10.11 one landed upstairs
10.13 Piret was back in nest and
10.55 she still is

I´ll be off from now until ?
Have a nice Saturday

They are terribly strong, this must be a heavy branch.

If the branch is dry, it is not that heavy but hard to carry it.

Beautiful large fish for Piret. One can recognise when Madis is on his way to the nest, happy cries from Piret.

18:38 Piret comes back. She tries to rearrange the big twig at the left side for a moment
18:39 Madis leaves
18:58 I closed the cam, Piret still on the eggs. There are many raindrops on her feathers, but she looks not "dishevelled" like the buzzards or the Lesser spotted Eagles - must be good to be a more or less waterproof osprey in this weather...

18:38 Female returns, male leaves the nest

19:50 Piret calls, gets up and starts a workout with the big twig... She struggled with it about six minutes
19:55 Madis comes back "empty-handed". He tries also to move the branch
19:56 Madis leaves the nest

19:50 Piret calls, gets up, strectches her wings and starts a workout

19:55 Madis returnes. Now he tries his luck with the branch, but rather halfhearted...
