Re: ESTLAT Osprey Nest Webcam Discussion 2012
Wonderful job, Urmas!!!
And nice pictures along the way!
I recorded the whole event, but I bet Macko or some one will post it long before I do.

I have just done a quick calculation, and according to the records for June petrol (gasoline) prices in Estonia and today's exchange rates, one US gallon of gas/petrol in Estonia costs USD $6.76! That's one gallon!macdoum wrote:
That is The Eagle Club and Urmas organises everything related to nests, ringing, rescue of injured birds, changing batteries and cams out in the forest.
He sometimes has to travel miles through rain, mud and snow to do his volontary work. He is to be praised, all his helpers too.
If you can help, please do. For instance pay for the petrol in his car.!!
Thank you to everyone for the pics and info. I did not want to watch the ringing but am glad to be able to see it went so well. I agree that doing the measurements and ringing in the nests is better than removing the birds and doing it on the ground. It may mean less accuracy but it is a fair trade off I think.

There are a lot of small feathers in the nest and flying around when the chicks move their wings. Do they change their plumage?
Loosing their downfeathers Birdie, especially Nori right now.

Maybe being ringed was a humbling experience for Elo? Or maybe Urmas whispered into Elo's ear yesterday that he would come back if Elo wasn't nice to his siblings?jopie wrote:14.27
Some leftovers for Elo. So it wasn't that Elo was not interested in the food.
A sudden attack of modesty?

Nori got more than a half of a fish at 14:03 without interference by the jealous Elo, who was not interested in eating. The next meals he also got some bites, but that times Elo was the first who demanded for the fish.

Birdie, your link doesn't work, but it is a good idea, I'll try it on the site Kukelke just mentioned. Thanks.
Edit: Could be a Hawk, but there are so many different species.
