It's a little bit stormy today. The nest swings pretty. I hope the chicks won't get seasick!

Hello, Oldie ~ I can't say that I heard anything while I was watching/listening, but it might have been at a different time. I have sent your question on to those who might know what you were hearing.Oldie wrote:Good morning to everybody. I'm also a newcomer and deputizing a group of german fans.
We are worried about the noises yesterday afternoon and evening. Sounds like footsteps and activities next to the nest and lasts until sundown.
Is there any explanation to this noises? Thanks
eta: I often hear noises from one of the osprey landing on the cam support - they can be noisy up there.

A the osprey nest is in an area close to a military training ground, we can often hear sounds of large vehicles, gunfire, and such like.
None of it seems to worry the ospreys.
I enquired about a date for ringing the young birds. All I know is that they are too young yet. We may get some short notice on the day, when it happens. Much depends on available volunteers, weather and unpredictable things.

Sylvie, yes it is called hatching. The youngest one hatched 4 days later than the older ones and had a few tough days. But it is catching up nicely.

not a "stupid" question at all. As mentioned there is 4 days difference in hatch times and at this age it is a huge difference, in a few weeks we wont notice the difference at all.Sylvie Lefevre wrote:I will ask something "stupid" but I am new why the third baby is so smaller ?

Macko, thank you for the videos!
Morlach, the Australian Sea Eagle nest is excellent - I followed it last year too, this year will be even better (with audio).
Welcome, Sylvie - all questions are good ones.
Witaj/Greetings, Maniano - I think you are right in that identification.
We should make a list (with pictures) of the fish we have seen arrive at the nest - Urmas was hoping that someone could identify them. There is a fish farm but also a natural lake nearby.

I do understand very well. Seeing a bird from behind is tricky to decide from, because wingshape isn´t to see. But in some different lightening tails of Ospreys can look very bright. So I notice the dark band at the end of tail.
To me the tail at the upper photo is too much cut staight over at the end to be a WTE and at no 2 photo it seems far to long for a WTE and is shaped like a fan, compared to this the end of a WTE tail is shaped more like a V. So I think - nevertheless also without being 100% sure, because of the angel and deciding from photos can be difficult - that it is Madis. leaving from upstairs
