With this speed we can still watch the camera in the winter.

Since the camera is losing time and moving so slowly are they still on the nest or did they leave and we're still seeing something that happened a while ago???? They sure have been on the nest a long time.....and usually some leave right after eating

Thank you for the links, Urmas, they work fine. It´s fascinating that we can "follow" Piret now.

You´re welcome, Kapa, I´m glad that I caught "your" moment. As others have already said here, it seems to be a part of the begging behaviour, but that´s just a guess, I´m no expert.Kapa wrote:Maertha,
thanks so much! This is exactly the behavior I meant.
"Virtual prey" - yes, it was strange to see him doing that without having a fish.

It should be very dark by now, for me "night" falls in Estonia about 3:15 my time. Estonia time on the cam right now says 18:50, it should be 22:15 there.IKat wrote:Since the camera is losing time and moving so slowly are they still on the nest or did they leave and we're still seeing something that happened a while ago???? Hope I didn't screw up my math on that.
The seconds are very slow as someone else said.

I suppose NORI (S7) and ELO (S9) are females and UNO (S8) is a male ^^

I just added a text to the White-tailed Eagle database, which may be also interesting for the osprey transmitter discussion . Here a snippet:
“Since the day we fitted his tag (along with his sister Breagha) we have been able to follow his every move and for the first time ever we have a complete picture of how young white-tailed eagles disperse: where they go, how long they stay in certain areas and use certain habitats and when they decide to start settling down.”

But hereby are two links of yesterdays and today's migration routes of Piret:
http://goo.gl/maps/izDHW
and
http://goo.gl/maps/qHolw
hopefully you could open those, that's new map solution also for me, so please respond in forum, if there are some problems to open those!
In migration map

there is difficult to import new transmitter type data, so will enter there only one location per day (up to new technical solution will elaborated).
URMAS
thank you for the new Addresses
I think, the cam-problem is the Battery, if there is one -
hopefully, we are able to watch the nest in the next time
who is responsible for that Battery-Service?

Strange problem with the cam....
I guess that the problem could also be at the server which is used for sending
the stream from cam out on the internet. Dont think its a battery problem.
Somehere there must be a buffer that holds the incomming stream and then sends it out.
For the time being, it looks like everything is broadcast, but in slowmotion.
The key issue is where the time stamp is set, because the time seems to be correctly
stamped so the problem is afterwards. My guess is the server.

Camera is still lagging. Right now the camera time says 19:13 while it should be 23:30.Urmas wrote:Strange with that camera... don't know what the reason for that.

Thanks for the links on the new map solution. They both do work indeed.
But each of your links represents 1 migration day.
Is it possible (within this new map solution) to get a permanent link to the whole route, from starting point to current position, just like the old map, or will you post an update with link to the latest position of Piret every new day?
If possible I would love a permanent link so I can add it to my favourites (because on the old migration map Piret is still in Belarus, while, according your second link, she really is a bit east of Kiev in the Ukraine).
Thanks in advance.

Kukelke, if you - on the old map - click at the bottom left on + 1 day. you see more precise where Piret is.Kukelke wrote: Camera is still lagging. Right now the camera time says 19:13 while it should be 23:30.

According to this speed Piret could be in one week in Sudan... is this realistic? Do the Estonian Ospreys usually make a rest, e.g. at danube delta?lukris wrote: That's what I thought too!
btw:
Do the parent birds recognize their children in the next year? I guess all 5 will come back to same region of Estonia, but they look and sound so similar...
What do you hear? Nothing but the rain.

Here are some photos from the Class Of 2012:
(Uno's portrait courtesy of NancyM's screen cap)
Note the fish in Elo's talons, and the huge crop.
Always in our hearts, if not always in the nest.
The fog made a beautiful backdrop this morning, and Elo finally posed right, and by right, I mean right after supper.
edit: changed Elo's title to be kinder

PIRET is in Ukraine now
following the water, where she can catch fishes ^^
btw -
these chicks will not come back next year -
they maybe come back after 2 years for raising their own chicks
