Fantastic Maertha, thank you. Indeed a very "thin", high, almost musical sound. I really do not recognise it.maertha wrote:Here is the intruder alert from 20:24
Birdie, yes, thank you! Habicht ist es auch nicht ( The hawk is not it, either) Or it must be the Red Hawk, but it is not common in Estonia, I think. I wait for somebody else to recognise it, but the same bird was near the nest yesterday.Birdie wrote:Jopie
Here I have a German site, the bird is called Habicht in German.

Hope the link works..!?

It must be a large bird which can cause a serious threat, otherwise Piret wouldn't be so upset I think. From what I can find on the internet, the only enemies (adult) ospreys have, are eagles and eagle-owls. And the sound we heard was definately not the very typical and easy recognisable 'ooh-hu' of an eagle-owl.jopie wrote: Birdie, yes, thank you! Nori was following the intruder with his/her eyes all the time. He/she seemed more interested than afraid of the unknown bird.maertha wrote:Here is the intruder alert from 20:24
Last month it happened in Scotland where a buzzard took a 4-week old osprey chick. The osprey mother reacted too late to go confront the intruder and was then outmanoeuvred by the buzzard who managed to take a chick.maertha wrote:About the intruder: I´m no expert, but I think a hawk could be still dangerous for our trio.
I read a little about other nests, and in one case a hawk killed two osprey chicks which were about one month old.
Thank you for your kind message, Sylvie.Sylvie Lefevre wrote:I watch a lot of nests in the world
but you have the best pictures, the best smart informations
and it is a great pleasure to watch every day pictures read the info
thanks so much
You´re right Nancy - no reason to blame Elo for being what he/she is! A very young osprey.NancyM wrote: Please do not pick on Elo! Piret whacked her over the head with that branch, she looked around and maybe thought Nori had done it (I was watching then). Human siblings can be harder on younger ones than that, but they are not evil.
"Elo" means "life"

edit: I tried Felis' suggestion for making an animation

I look at the osprey webcam for so many weeks and I’m fascinated every day. I just have read half of this thread. And now I have registered because I have a question.
I have read there: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17
"All images from the Looduskalender webcams are free to use, providing they are not used for commercial or business profit. You may put your screenshot or video on a commercial photo-hosting website, such as Photobucket, ImageShack, Flickr, Pic-Upload, etc. If you post an image or video to websites or forums other than this one, you must include a link to the original Looduskalender webpage or camera from which the image was taken."
And now my question. I wonder if it is allowed to take various images and videos and create a new video? I make videos for some time (just as a hobby). Most from a TV series and also a lot of vids for friends from her cats) - like this one: https://vimeo.com/37481703
But this osprey animated me very well to make a video.
It's enough if I SPECIFIED the page to: looduskalender.ee?
Or what should I do to make and show a vid of these wonderful animals?
I’m german. Hope I use the right words.
I think, if you make a video of this Osprey cam, the suggestion is to credit the osprey webcam page,It's enough if I SPECIFIED the page to: looduskalender.ee?
Fabulous captures, Nancy, thank you :) And thanks for all contributions :) I don't have time to follow this super family as closely as I would like to :(NancyM wrote:I was not watching in the interval, but
