Good heavens! TWO osprey nest webcams
http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/13110
Do we need another topic for Camera 2? Shall we wait a couple of days to see what activity there is?
Opinions, please.

You are right, Macdoum. We really need our North American members now! Kitty, get back to work quickly. Nancy and Alice are doing a grand job but they need a coffee break, too!macdoum wrote: Wow...more nestcams However will we manage them all

I woke at 3 this morning, made tea and wondered if I should take a quick peak at the cameras. It would have been light enough, but I went back to sleep.

Jo,I think its best to wait and see if there is any activity in nest No 2 before opening anymore threads.. else,we'll all be standing on our heads in no time.
What do the other members think ?
Maybe in place of WTE nest which is empty for now ?
to think we have so many nests and some years there are so few. Nature and Loodus. are generous. Has everyone remembered to donate a little here ?

Thank you, Jo, for the update !
The article is very interesting- both nests are "artificial" and why is Urmas up in that tree? ?
Quote from article:
Both Estonian osprey nest cameras were installed at artificial nests built within the ESTLAT Eagles project.
The Osprey 2 camera nesting territory is known as one of the oldest and most successful in South Estonia. Last year the ospreys built a new nest here. However, with the autumn storms it fell down from the tree and so an artificial nest was built in the same tree in winter. After the camera installation in spring it turned out that the same pair had another nest as well, about 400 meters away, and this year the ospreys are using that. So maybe we will not see ospreys very often in this camera, but the view can be enjoyed, and you can follow the shooting exercises of the Estonian Defence Forces.
The second osprey nest is also an artificial nest that we have built about 200 meters away from the previous year’s broken-down nest. Last year this pair had two young. When we saw the camera image for the first time on April 19th the male was already at the nest and on April 23rd the female arrived too.
I thought that Osprey 2 was more likely to be inhabited but things turned out otherwise. The distance between the two nests is about 4 kilometres.

@Jo: Maybe you add the link to the first page as well?

Good afternoon. I have a question. Why do we call this bird Osprey? According to my dictionary an osprey is a Sea Eagle and this one is a Fish Eagle. Does anybody know?
Sea Eagle is Haliaetus Albicilla (osprey) and Fish Eagle is Pandion Haliaetus.

Mutikluti, Thanks, although it is not clear still. Last link is the White Tailed Eagle, other kind of Eagle than the Sea Eagle.
