Re: OBSERVATIONS~ ESTLAT Osprey~Madis & Piret's nest ~ 2013

Post by javabird »

I believe it's true. That person has been post many photos and comments in that FB. He has no reason to make such a "fake" photo at this time. There was a fake photo with a golden eagle in nest at other FB, but this one is Madis. Why can't Madis come back to nest at this time? I really don't figure out a reason why we doubt it, and why the person has to "fake" it?

But it really doesn't matter if anyone believe it's true or not. Since nobody can persuade anybody. Let's just keep our own opinion, and move on.

I sure hope it's not fake but I also went through all pontu pictures and things don't seem right and of course, he's not on any of them, for 2 hours, either way. It is more upsetting to think someone may have played a trick like that than to be fooled into thinking he was there when he wasn't. If someone did fake it, they should be ashamed of themselves.
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

He was just showing for a short time(few seconds), between the pontu pictures can get. So I said I am lucky to saw him. Maybe pontu pictures can shorting the capture time to second, then you can find everything you want.

Well, I guess I have to apologize for not believing. Good job Molly.

How smooth he came in and went out. Unbelievable. And he looks healthy.

Madis seemed looking for Piret, didn't he?

It is very upsetting and frustrating when someone witness something and is excited to share the moment he/she took to this forum, but only got the criticism that it's fake. I believe less and less people will happy to share anything here anymore. I don't know why some people here are so skeptical. Make your comment before you think about it. I mean, it's fine if anyone want to discuss if it's true or not, but don't just put words like "It's fake" at once.

Well, of course, he can now eat all of the fish he catches.

Who knows? May be First Lady Piret is also around nearby looking even more healthy. The fishing area would be a nice place for a cam. wishful thinking...

Anyways, I am thinking of installing motion-detection software on my home server to hopefully capture all nest visitors from the video stream.
would be great.
You know this cams they install in the woods (or houses) that make just photos when there is movement?

I often think that they are all nearby. Just because there is plenty fish around. And I guess there are more Ospreys than just the 3 or 4 we have see in the nest this year. May be if some in the area fledge they might also pass by. I believe that when the ringing starts in the area we will get information.

I suspect those cameras for ospreys have that feature built-in. I was curious and checked prices on those cameras and they cost 500-1k(!) Euro. The one in Latvia is between that range, not sure about the ones in Estonia.

The software I was talking about, its already being running for almost 24 hours and only detected 70 changes triggered by abrupt sun brightness changes, but no ospreys or any other birds at all. :( I'll post gif/snapshots if it detects and records any visitors.

This what differs Madis & Piret from others. She leaves with fish and him alone with a new born chick. They are special and I understand that many people around the world would like to see them together for a life time and care about them a lot.

You didn't see him doesn't means Madis wasn't there, I'm lucky to saw him, but actually I hope I can see Piret soon.

I admire your apology, but it's not for me, it's for dogstar20000 and for anyone who loves to share their witness in the future. Thank you very much.

THANK YOU Molly for finding the video of Madis visiting the nest. It was wonderful to see him, and see that he is doing well.

The unoccupied nest is sad for me to watch, after all the joyous life last summer, but we can hope for next year ad meantime enjoy the ospreys with Ilmar & Irma and with Uldis and Ulla, as well as all the other bird and animal families.
