I noticed that sweet Irma has fortified the edge of the nest closest to the camera...maybe she's thinking that the human won't be able to reach her babies quite so easily. :o)

It is possible! Irma observing the process and to draw conclusions for themselves.MarshaMay wrote:I noticed that sweet Irma has fortified the edge of the nest closest to the camera...maybe she's thinking that the human won't be able to reach her babies quite so easily. :o)

Maybe you are right. For the osprey humans are tree climbing enemies, who try to steal their chicks. I don't know if some sort of marten are normal enemies for ospreys, but a higher fence would be helpful against some smaller martens or other bird-eating mammals.Gavril wrote:It is possible! 11:01 - both parents in the nest for a short while (about a minute)
Jürgen - many thanks to you and other Kotkaklubi EagleSupermen. Absolutely amazing pictures ! The story was a real gripping read. As for Ülo - I believe that the pics of him climbing up the tree was a windup - it's obvious that he's able to fly
