Re: DISCUSSION ~ ESTLAT Osprey Nests ~ 2013
Who is sitting in that tree behind the nest Nr 2 (11.30)? Now I'm not able to have a picture here. I'll try later on.

Doesn't look like it to me. He's very atypical for an osprey from all the books and websites I've read and seen.Cris-Ita wrote:the third partner in three years, madis is not so faithful, I'm right?

Maybe those authors from the books either didn't know about ospreys or meant some other kind of them?

"mates for life" isn't Madis' slogan

Dr.Schmidt writes in his article, that he has watched 39 breeding adults (24
females, 15 males) in Germany from 1995-1999.
And there are definitely some changes inbetween the couples.
Not only if one of the birds doesn't came home (maybe because of dying), but also if one of the birds of a previous year couple came home late.
He also says, that it is not common, but it happens.
I think, that it is a myth that ospreys are mating for life.

I guess this shows Ilmar's and Madis' nests. Look at the distance.
It's not that far compared with osprey's migration distance.
But it's not that near as we think.
Poor Ilmar. I just saw that there was an intruder in Madis' nest today.
It seems that Madis' nest is more popular than Ilmar's.

Thankyou javabird, you are right.
I also thought, it`s closer to Madis` nest.
I hope there are single-Osprey-Girls around Ilmars nest and one will find him :)

The map doesn't show the coordinates of the nests because they are deliberately changed. Only Urmas and Renno know the exact data.

Makes sense...otherwise...thousands of idiots would march there to see them...and disturb the eagles...
Still I´m worried..the nest doesn´t look good to me.

Maybe not the exact position, but I believe still the nearly position.
"Ilmar arrived to the web camera nest in Tartumaa county. " That's what Urmas wrote.
And I remember Madis' nest is located in Voru.
So this still can see the relative position of the two nests.

Yes, somehow the webcamnest of Finnish Ospreys was found by ppl and they came there. Ospreys got scared, flew away forever and the eggs were eaten by crows.yarrow wrote:

Urmas has written here that the two nests are 4 km apart, so it seems that Piret might be able to go there.javabird wrote:Maybe not the exact position, but I believe still the nearly position.

A young WTE was sitting on Ilmar's nest earlier today - he looks huge in that nest!

I thought the nest which is 4 km apart from Madis' and Piret's nest is the old nest2 of 2012?NancyM wrote:

One planet meets another. Planet 1 says to Planet 2, “Hey you look terrible”. Planet 2 says, “Yes I know. I have Homo Sapiens.” Planet 1 says, “Don’t worry. I had that too and it will soon disappear.

why fighting about?
they put the cam from this nest to ILMARs nest
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=462
I also think, that PIRET went there
and maybe MADIS makes visits ^^ - because he knows the nest from 2012
I suppose NORI (S7) and ELO (S9) are females and UNO (S8) is a male ^^
