Post by NancyM »

This topic is for documentation of what we see on Ilmar & Irma's nest.
1) Something that you saw yourself on the cam
2) Include the date and time
3) Posts here are meant for a quick review of events. Comments and discussion should be posted HERE:
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=669

2014 is the second year for this nest to be on camera.

Ilmar is a male Osprey from Estonia who received ring number U6 and a transmitter on 03 August 2012.
His transmitter was removed and his ring changed in July 2013.
His ring now is AF.

His mate is Irma. She was captured and ringed in 2012. Her ring number is U5.

Surprise - surprise!!! What a joy - Ilmar and Irmas nestcam is online! :loveshower:

Nest at 18:24 ... it seems as if nothing "important" has happened until now - no remains of our poor Kaari from last season.

A WtE is sitting in the dead tree

Image

It took off at 20:13

Landing in, sitting in the dead tree and looking around a bit - and taking off again.
I think it was an adult bird, thailfeathers looked completely white.

Good morning!

Pontu didn´t get a pic of it :(

I enlarged Wisterias pic and made a cut to get a better view of the rings - unfortunately numbers are not readable, but ring on right ankle has colors blue over white (Estonia) and left ankle seems to be black over blue, this means a 2009 bird.

Image

My first idea was, whether it could be the WtE from last season again, but I think rings are different:

I wanted to get more pics of him, but he was only there for a bare minute. I was lucky to open the cam at the right moment.

I'm happy for whatever info you did get from the rings, Bea.

It must have been there exactly between two shots of pontu - perhaps it was the same bird sitting on the dead tree yesterday evening.

Think I heard someone moving on the cam support at 16:31 - but it might have been raindrops or so on the cam and microphone. Sometimes sounds as if a bird is shaking it's feathers.

Landing in at 16:02 and taking off at 16:13

The time between it was standing on the nest, looking around and checking the possibilities :whistling:
