I am just downloading and cutting. Unfortunately the visits are spread on two 4-hour-video-patches, so it takes a bit time to first download them, and then cut and convert them for uploading to youtube.

Thanks for all the videos Bea, very much appreciated. :2thumbsup:

I haven't seen them all yet, only the first two, but it seems to me that the sound on these videos is from the Ilmar and Irma nest, as I can hear osplets begging for food. Not that it matters much as the videos show what's going on on the Piret & Madis nest, but worth mentioning in case people wonder why the sounds don't fit to the behaviour. :D

This osprey looks very much like the one who arrived on the nest some time back, this year. This was a lovely looking osprey but not Piret and seriously doubt it was Oxana as it was not built like her and forehead markings appear to be different.

This would be that bird.

IMHO, something has been going on in this nest and area all along, this year. We just don't know what because there is no one there in a hide to keep an eye out on what is actually going on.

I also do not believe Piret is unable to lay eggs anymore.

Thank you, Bea, for your hard work! You really do work hard with these videos and sorting things out. I am sure it is a great help to the eagle men and to us all. We could not view all of this without you!

Is it not possible that this ringed male is not Madis afterall, but another male osprey? I know it looks like him but osprey from this area do look a lot alike. It could be that this is not Madis, afterall? I have not studied markings on this male enough to know for sure or rule it out, so far. I will try to work that into my schedule.

Is there any information about Piret? Was seen by Urmas? She has her transmitter still on his back?

We have not heard of Piret or of her transmitter.
But Madis was seen the same hour at the same pond where the osprey female Tiiu was trapped (16th August) for a transmitter set up:

Now we know more about how this season went on for Piret and Madis ..... Image

http://www.looduskalender.ee/en/node/21290

It explains a bit more their behaviour on later appearances on the nest.

I am very sad that Piret and Madis this year so had a bad luck again ... Perhaps the branches of spruce were not strong enough? But the main thing they are together and healthy! Thanks to Urmas!

That's both good and sad news at the same time. Sad because unfortunate circumstances caused the nest partially to collapse, and the nestlings to fall down and die, and good news because Madis & Piret are still together, and that Piret is still able to lay fertile eggs (which some here doubted earlier this year).

The partial collapse of the nest (which was discovered on July 23, but could ofcourse have happened before that) might be connected with the sudden appearance of both Madis & Piret on the old nest (with the camera) on July 8, and of Madis for sure and possibly Piret too, on July 9.

I wonder which nest they will use next year: the old one with camera, or their new one which partially came down. Also, with Tiiu also breeding in that area, could be an explanation of why Madis & Piret moved further away from their old nest (2 km) than what is usual when ospreys build new nests.

Thank you for information, so pitty. Hopefully next season will be good for Piret&Madis! :loveshower:

Nice to know that the Royal Couple still builds families. But: what a tragedy for Piret and Madis' breeding this summer! Maybe humans can do the same as at Lauma and Pērkons' nest: strengthen the construction for future ...?

Maybe our brave eagle men do ponder over this. And maybe then we will see, how Piret and Madis return to their old nest... :rotf:
For me it is interesting. One can read, that ospreys are not faithful to their partners but to their nest. Madis and Piret disprove this theory.
