Are there already any new data about where the other storks are right now?

Is there any news about tagged and other Black Storks- about their nesting? What about Priidu, did he find new mate

Though we have not visited many nests we could decide by transmitters data about our familiar storks.
Priidu probably did not find a new mate, but is securing his territory up today. He is visiting the nest more often as Padis and as informed our Eagle Club member from Saaremaa after checking of Priidus locations - Priidu has begun to build a new nest about 1km from old one... And in the same time is visiting old nest!
Raivo is probably successfully nesting in the same nest as last years. Some of my colleagues have seen Raivo on foraging areas several times.
Oss is also nesting well, at least it seems so.
Valdur inhabited new nest (not known for us before) about 18km from last year nest, and seems to be happy there.
Kaku went to other (neighboring) nest with, but seems to be not successful this year, he is flying a lot around...
Lembit the loser, who came back home too late - is moving around in his last year territory, but yesterday flew near Pärnu down...

oh, thank you Urmas for this information!
so - we have at least 4 bachelors this year, Padis, Priidu, Lembit and Kaku!
what a waste, even Nature isn`t perfect, where are all the Lady BS??
wonder, is it just one bad year, or is the population of BS really vanishing from our area?
i do hope it is just one unlucky year...

We have 6 single BS this year: Padis, Priidu, Lembit, Kaku, add also Toomas and an unknown young female, appeared in the camera nest last time.

good point, asteria, but I am guessing that last unknown was a male, not female (wouldn't one of the single males have courted her?)asteria wrote:We have 6 single BS this year: Padis, Priidu, Lembit, Kaku, add also Toomas and an unknown young female, appeared in the camera nest last time.

Kaku is probably not single, but the pair seems to be not successful this year.asteria wrote:We have 6 single BS this year: Padis, Priidu, Lembit, Kaku, add also Toomas and an unknown young female, appeared in the camera nest last time.
I somehow missed last visitor in Padis's nest - should check your posts from past...
But rather believe Bociany - there is very low probability if some stork lady during a breeding season will here without of male accompanist (if she only wants to have).
A bit different as demographic situation within human society in Estonia...

An unknown stork was discussed here. It did not call like Toomas and Padis always did and was smaller than Toomas and even Donna:

Can it be a female who just arrived too late for incubating eggs?

If to inform you very quikly, then locations of our storks are by now:
Toomas, Priidu, Leida - on Danube flood- plaines in eastern Romania;
Kaku - in nort-eastern Bulgaria, but could be in Turkey already;
Lembit - in Ukraine, northern coast of Black Sea, near to enter Krim peninsula;
Murru - in northern part of Krim, Ukraine;
Pirsu - on the Greece-Turkey border area;
Valdur - western Ukraine;
Both juveniles from Raivos nest - southern Belarussia, near hudge fishponds, but 15km from each other, in the same place stopped over also Oss and from that area are known couple of recoveries of ringed juveniles from Latvia;
Raivo and Oss - Israel;
Reet (Raivos mate) - does not transmit since 14th Aug, beeing on breeding area... can't say anything about reason.

Thanks, Urmas!
everything looks normal so far, of course news , or absence of news about Reet is a bit worrying...
let`s hope that it is just the transmitter what has failed!
