More people could see Tönn today behind the Swiss border near Klingnau lake:
http://www.ornitho.ch/index.php?m_id=54&mid=471148.

Comment: Coming from the bunker we see a bird of prey approaching us from the Rhine knee near Koblenz at 11:55 h: the wings slightly pushed forward, the arms slightly raised, the wings hanging and the very prominent fingers slightly spread upwards. Seen a bit closer and less frontal a dark eagle with plank-like wings can be seen, revealing all the features of the greater spotted eagle while circling above the Klingnau Forest. Already in frontal approach one could recognize behind the head on the back with a scope that he is transmittered: Tönn. Shortly after 12:05 h we lose Tönn out of sight in flight behind the forest to Döttingen.

No news about Tönn at the moment.
But other interesting things: 2 greater spotted eagles were observed and pictures taken in the south of France between Nimes and the national reserve Camargue http://www.ornitho.fr/index.php?m_id=54&mid=128687.
But they both show different plumage details as for example the feathers of the outer wings. Both birds have much more worn out feathers there compared with one of the last pictures of Tönn http://www.ornitho.ch/index.php?m_id=54&mid=471043.
Greater spotted eagle in French is "Aigles criards".

:hi:
I am not sure if you have this information. I was contacted by someone who lives nearby.
It should also give pictures on Facebook .. Max Planck Institute Ornithologie Radolphzell ?

"update 20.11.17: "Tönn" hält sich mittlerweile 10km westlich des Hallwilersees bzw. ca. 15km NNW von Sempach in der Schweiz auf"

A Sherlock Holmes museum also is in Meiringen, Berner Oberland, because he (Holmes) died there at the Reichenbach waterfalls. I'm glad, Tönn is not there!

Thanks Hellem

Oh how easy he flies over this landscape where I ran Internationale 5-Tage OL many years ago (and won a stage ) , I can tell you that these "kind" hills are very jobbish to run up and down, wish I'd been a bird then :rotf:

He might be in France already today and here is a link to LPO-regions with further links: http://franche-comte.lpo.fr/index.php?m_id=20166
Also Oiseaux rares: http://www.ornitho.fr/index.php?m_id=4
On the southern coast near Nimes there are many reports of Spotted Eagles and it is debated if it's LSE, GSE or hybrids, very interesting but my french is not the best  : http://www.faune-lr.org/index.php?m_id=1

Hello sigge, the questionmark is automatically inserted and those observations must be confirmed by a rarity commission (may be you know that already). But you are right because both "observations" were only notes because of the birdmap-information. Nobody did see him personally. So it is confirmed automatically as well.

EDIT: there is a real observation of Tönn in ornitho.fr with photo

One doesn't need to have an account there, this link is visible for everyone!
