A video with crane Ahja 4 in Ethiopia was shown on Estonian TV's news survey Ringvaade, clip HERE
ETV's nature programme Osoon's director tells about their visit with the ornithologists. View of Ahja - said to be walking with Mum and Dad - about 2 mins 40 secs into the video.

Osoon's own programme will be aired around mid-February.

On Monday (10th Feb.) "Osoon" showed the report about the group of Estonian ornithologists (Urmas among them) on their trip to Ethiopia. It can be seen via Internet: http://etv.err.ee/arhiiv.php?id=146371 - it's the first contribution.

I am missing Tunne, the greater spotted eagel who was located in Serbia/Montenegro. He has disappeared from the map but they did not mention it in the news. Maybe the transmitter is not working anymore or......

Not only transmitters but the whole map is not working in a proper way, it is "blind".

The map seems to be showing many of the birds now, updated through March 2.

Tõnn is in Spain.

Hello, Asteria -
I thought so too a week ago.
But if for instance Tõnn's area in Spain is enlarged, it shows that he moves around.

There are few long tracks of birds yet for the spring season. But true, the map feels a little different after update.

Tunne - yes, disappeared from the list? he was mentioned some time in September last year.

I would like to ask of the migration map:

in the map with the default scale 31st March it seems like the black stork Raivo would be in Southern Finland - it seems to be an illusion, just a question of the map scale. - As when you zoom in the scale Raivo seems to be far away from Finland, in Estonia. So you have to zoom in the scale quite a lot in order to see the right position (country) of the bird? :book:

I think she will take the Eastern route, crossing Mediterranean Sea from Greece or Turkey heading to Egypt, then further down in Africa

Tiiu's route so far looks a bit like the route osprey Ilse took in autumn 2012, who went via Italy (and unfortunately perished there):

Ilse's route in 2012:
Image

This suggests that might be a less known or less used 'central route' to Africa as well - via the 'heel' of Italy and Sicily to North Africa and further down. Or perhaps Ilse was one of the few ospreys that actually do winter in Southern Europe, and Tiiu might be one of them too.
Lets see where Tiiu decides to fly next.
