crazy little Barn Owls`s , so sweet :D

They need a pole for jumping like in Memmingen.

The mother keeps distance to her children. They always pluck their feathers.

Today in the morning I have rewinded Teco and Lotte stream feed and later I ve watched the cam online.

In the time period from 21:52 until early morning at 3:42 (local cam time) both parents made 18 (!) food deliveries to the nest box.
Some of Americans added 4 more from early evening (prior my waking up) so final 22 food drops has been made during a single night!

I ve never known that owl parents can be such hard working
I have registered 1 bird delivery, all others were rodents. That s something from the world of fantasy :D

These cuties have changed the site and moved under cam so now we have troubles again to see them :) Rascals!

Teco and Lotte - Barn owlets

The owlets have an excellent sense of hearing. They can hear flying parent almost in the same moment. But... there is dark inside a box and the little ones are confused when a mouse is delivered.
Image

Sette (the youngest one) always runs to cam tonight. So he got nothing so far. Poor little one. Dear Cutie, it is a wrong direction! Please stay under the window! :help:

This is not so successful night as yesterday. Very windy. 6 deliveries so far. If you get a mousie, hold it strongly because there are many hungry siblings around

I think I know what s a problem.

Seems to me that people from Teco and Lotte nest have changed the orientation of the nest box.
Wrong wrong, very wrong idea! This night showed that regulations about not disturbing breeding birds have their importance and have to be followed.
The owlets have learned for days (weeks) where food comes from, from which direction.

The youngest one was active whole night, hungry as others. He/she cried and called a lot but was so disoriented! not able to find the hole in the wall.
It is almost as difficult to watch as DH eaglets. really. I closed a window for now.

It was a bad night. With 10 deliveries of mice but still bad.
It will be daylight soon.

Lubaska I agree with you. The welfare of the animals must be at the first place. Hopefully the smallest does not suffer.

I dont know, Jujani. It s offline ... and I am sad because of that. I think they have some technical problems and hope that they will fix it ASAP because I miss the little Barnies a lot!

Lubaska is so beautiful to see the Barnis in America. Thank you for the sweet videos

I was looking forward to the Dutch Barnies, because they also have such a nice camera, unfortunately.......In Holland the Barn Owl couple is very strange. The male often has no desire to mate. The female bounces. She brings him mice. In the night the male sits in the box and the female goes hunting, always calls him to pair. The male is very apathetic

She show him: "This ist what I want"

I wait, please wake up

Here is a mouse for your, a little energiesnack

Holland
The little owls alone at home. The mother was out. Mice are enough. The one egg is probably unfertil.

To see is nothing, yesterday I saw eggshells. The first chick has probably hatched.
