Re: Owls Around the World
Thank you all for your pictures, videos and reports!
Mamicja , I often feel sorry for this brave owl mom. I haven’t seen so bad weather for such a long time. It’s always very windy, sometimes raining hard. And the pantry is often empty. Not the best requirements to raise the owlets.
So I’m also thankful and relieved, when mom comes back with prey. I keep fingers crossed, that weather at last is getting better and dad does his job.

Although my connection stops and goes today, I was able to see food delivery at 5:41 am.
Today in the nest are 3 food items and wind calmed down.
Feeding - younger owlet doesn't always find mom's beak, but both were fed.
I'm big now!

Both owlets are fine. They are pure white fluff balls no more. Now their plumage became brownish-greyish, pin feathers also visible.
The older owlet watches the world around, while the younger still prefers to hide under mom and sleep.

Thank you for the cute pictures and reports, Mamicja!
I'm once again astonished, how fast the young birds grow.

Owlets were alone in the nest by a large part of the night, but parents were close by.
Today on menu rodent (or a gray squirrel?).
In the morning an intruder was to close to the nest, mom covered owlets with her wings and performed lot of beak-clacking (video by patticake98 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUOIj-g ... e=youtu.be ).

Mamicja, great catch of mom with her big round eyes!
In the video it's very interesting to see her open wings from behind! Impressive!

Poor owlets, it's windy, cold and rainy day. No new prey, it's no good weather for hunting. Mom and owlets are bedraggled.
The weather is expected to improve on Friday.

Oh my god, that's awful!
Poor owlets and poor Mom! They are so wet ...
I wished, somebody would hold a protecting roof about them.
Hopefully they do not become ill. They must freeze a lot. :-(
12:38 nest time
Edit:
I can't imagine that the little one, who couldn't protect by Mom, does not become seriously ill there. :-(

Temperature there is about 4° Celsius.
If I understand the weather forecast right, tomorrow it becomes a little bit warmer. But at wednesday night is even heavy rain expected. :-(

The owlets changed their places. In front is the smaller one, the older one has crept among mummies belly.
There's no place for both of them. The smaller one is now half outside.

Now, nevertheless, both owlets under mummy. The smaller one is sitting under her tail feathers. At least for the moment.

Weather is finally a bit better. The rain has stopped.
15:54 Owlets feathers have dried a little bit.
They all look much better now. Although Mom looks still quite wet.
I hope, they all get soon a little bit for the empty stomach.

Yesterday in the evening, when owls dried out, mom fed owlets with leftovers.
Today in the morning she brought a new prey, so thankfully now owlets are no hungry and dry..... and cute.

Mamicja ,
your last pic! So cute, the little one!
Now it's again bad weather. It's raining and windy, as expected. Mom and the nest are quite wet. Fortunately the owlets are hidden under Moms belly.
I hope, it won't get too bad with the rain.
