KESTREL in Beleef de Lente:

This year we have a pair of kestrels who manage to rise babies:
Up to today they have four eggs - last year it does not happen, I was so very sad for them. There must have happened anything bad. But this year it seems to be better:

Kestrel news:
5 babies are there now and one egg is left - I think that one will stay as it is.
Babies are very hungry and get fed well

Pictures from 20.05.2014 and 21.05.2014
Image Image

Image Image

1. Picture is Daddy, 2.+3. picture is feeding
4. picture was after grooming.

I am so nosy if there will be also such a mess in the nest with rests of feeding as it is with the slechtvalk. I cannot show a picture of that, it is too much red stuff to see. And many birds were taken as food who had rings on the legs. I don't know if that were pigeons or whatever. But that is life - and somewhere the food for them has to come from.

I hope this five little featherballs will grow and have a good life. :hi:

Yoko - thank you for the beautiful pictures of the young Pelegrines watching what's going on in the world. I did not see them that way and it is really great that you caught it.
Have fun with the Netherland Birds like I have.
