Re: Latvian LSE Webcam Discussion

I have sent an email to Latvian friends (they are in the US now). Rota can translate Latvian into English. My husband speaks Latvian but doesn't read and write in that language. I know a few words and I have a dictionary, too.

Video: I Need More Sleep

This video was recorded around 6 AM, Latvian time. Mother looks like she could use some more sleep.

What a beautiful collection of pictures, Tahidor!

Oh no, that's not his/her name. I only suggested it. The accent is on the "i" and sounds like the English "long e" or the Spanish "i" The "c" has an "s" sound.

"C" isn't "S" but "ts". In english or estonian there aren't similar sounds. "ī" is long letter like "ii" in estonian. So "cerība" pronunciation is "tseriiba".

Thank you, Vainamoinen! "Tseriiba" sounds nice to say.

As a Latvian, do you have any "inside" info about this nest?

We have forum about this nest but it's only in Latvian. There is some interesting information but my english is very poor, so it's almost impossible for me to translate something

Oh, please don't say that about your English, it is good enough for me (and for everyone else here too)! Many of us can't speak well, no one cares if the grammar or spelling is correct or not! The information is what we are looking for! If you have something interesting to tell us, please don't be shy, we would be very thankful.

Please pass our warm greetings to the Latvian forum, your little chick is beloved in Estonia. :loveshower:

And is beloved in the US, too. There are several forums here that watch this cam, keeping in mind to limit the time so that the researchers have access.

Thanks for the guide to pronunciation. Perhaps members of the Latvian forum can name this little eaglet?

That is so interesting. LSEs are white at first and then they darken, WTEs on the contrary are black when they are born and then become lighter.

White isn't very good camouflage in these nests.
