I did NOT see that she ate it. She moved it on the other side of the cavity, and the more to the center.. But I am not sure.LAT_eagle wrote:renandeli? your opinion?
Here was discusion, that Grieta has sensed that egg is dead, rolled it away on nest border, eaten it and sat on another, viable egg to incubate it futher.
Here is slideshow of the two times Grieta moving the egg, the first 14 pictures are from the second phase and the next 19 are from the first phase at 11:06

Well done - pictures are shocking and good.
So we know-LSE eats its eggs, if they are broken/dead.

Edit 12:35: Grieta stood up.. what happened first? I saw when she opened wings and stretched, and sat down.

Thanks for those pics, renandeli.
I think they see a non-living egg as a source of food, not to be wasted.

Thank you LAT-eagle for translation what Uģis Bergmanis said. I dont want speculate why Grieta interrupted incubating so long. The food deficite makes me wondering compared with Estonian LSE nest-life, but there are few weird things... (I will better send you PM) What he said about eggs...weak hope is better than no hope. Here is still one egg

And Grieta left the nest to eat the frog somewhere near. Gints is incubating from that moment.Lili wrote:Gints brought an frog at 12.51
