At last, we have some news about our webcams.

This is an "empty time" in Estonian nature so we have to wait a little longer for Nature to allow us to see our webcams again. It requires freezing temperatures and the beginning of winter weather to make it possible to put food on the feeding grounds.

The following dates are approximations of when conditions may be favourable.

Sea Eagles Winter Feeding Ground, in West Estonia is predicted (by Mr. LK) for November 15th.

Winter Feeding cam of Birds - November 30th

-Sea TV / Boar TV – when the ground is deeply frozen, then it´s reasonable to supply with food, somewhere in the beginning of December.

Webmaster also says that new equipment is all ready to go. We shall have better pictures and new techinical possibilites. I don't know what that is, yet!

Strangely there is put food all year round. Actually they could start at ANY time.

(Sorry, had to mention that  )

But thanks a lot for the info concerning the other webcams!!

Ricky, is that true of the area we see on the webcam?
If so, why would we be told to wait for colder weather?

Thanks, Ricky and Caysa.
I suppose it is too costly to keep the webcam streaming to us all year round, so they have to decide on a webcam "season"

I don't know why it is arranged this way, but there has to be a reason.

Of course there is a reason - but it is not the weather.....
Oh, and the cam was watching Spot... but it is not there either now.

Yeah, probably the costs are one reason. And maybe there are more reasons...

But truly the ground does not HAVE to be frozen. That´s not the reason for a certain cam season for sure!!

i've been waiting for the "siga kaamera" rather impatiently already. :shake:
the 'ground-need-to-be-frozen'-reason for not starting already is a bit lame excuse. just remember what the feeding ground was like in the spring: just a large puddle of mud. i felt bad every day when Mait came and poured the nicely dried grains in the puddles... it never seemed even to slow down the boars though... it seemed to be just as deeee'elicisious as ever every evening, if the munch-munch-noise of the pigs is to be taken seriously. 8-)
everything seems to be ready there. just put us online, pleeeease! :loveshower:

Unfortunately we have to wait when "Looduskalender" people decide to open webcams and they have no responsibility to give any excuses or have they?
I am waiting impatiently for Sea Eagles Winter Feeding Ground webcams. Luckily it will be open earlier.

I am so looking forward to seeing the ravens versus buzzards and eagles again. They make me laugh.

Yes, the cams have been available for a long time now.
As Juta says - we might not be entitled to know about reasons why the pigcam is not up.
But.... Why give us a reason that is not true?? That I do not understand.
It is 4 weeks since I walked there ON the feeding ground. It was not DRY, because it had been raining a lot but I had no boots and I managed quite well.
The feedstore is only 1 minute's walk away from there, normally no car is needed and even if so would be, a 4 x 4 would not be in trouble.
As long as there is no snow and the fields are not furrowed/ploughed, the boars will feed there too. But they do turn up at the feeding ground every now and then. That is what we want, isn't it? When they are fed there, more or less regularly, they will return for us to enjoy.

Reading back to what I wrote, I see that it is my error to say that placing of food is an issue. It's not that, of course.
But I remember an LK article two or three years back which mentioned that the people who erect the webcam wait until the ground is hard because they don't enjoy sinking into the mud too much.
So I do humbly apologise if my simple error has caused so much concern. You know, there really isn't a conpiracy to hide information
