if this is your morning, then you will have very little time to see the cam.
it`s getting dark already in Estonia :puzzled:

I tuned into the new cam link :D and for the past two hours I have heard occasional lovely bird sounds, but the screen is pitch black.

Currently, where I am, our sunrise is around 6:30 in the morning, and daylight lasts for ~ 9 hours. In Estonia, sunrise is ~ 8:30 and the days will soon be only 7 hours long. And the shortest day of the year is a month away.

How do you all cope with the lack of sunlight?
I went to Google Earth, to see what part of the planet Bociany is on. She is at 42 degrees North, while the Estonian webcams are at 59 and a lot degrees North. It's interesting to me to notice how the tilt of the earth affects the length of the day in different places.
I am at 50 North and our days are a bit longer than Estonia's, but it's still a dark place in winter!

Good Morning (where I am!)

I can see that it will be a challenge for me to see this new cam in daylight hours - when I turned it on this morning (around the same time Bairbre did) the light was fading fast. :help:

thank you for the pictures!

I can well imagine that some people get very depressed during the very short (or nonexistent) days in Estonia and Finland. It happens to me here and we have at least a few hours of light during the winter. I put a lot of overhead lights with "natural wavelength" in my work area and I think that helps a little. http://www.verilux.com/?gclid=CIS_qYL6- ... GgodrjCaYg

Recently I read that taking Vitamin D3 might help as well, so I am trying that this winter (it's good for bones, too).

I guess we are luckier here. It gets dark around 4:30 - 5 pm and light again around 6;30 - 7 am. I might be able to see the new cam before I go to bed???

Thanks, I found the name of Bairbre's avatar.. one version of the name: 'Red Cardinal' or something, it is just wonderful. the red ibis i didn' know, but it lives in Amazon jungle. What a colour, it's 'dangerous for that bird, isn't it. How to keep in safe, dressed in scarlet in green jungles. :puzzled:

Yes, they were wild boars. It was big fun! Sometimes there were over 20 of them at the same time. Sometimes we saw raccon dogs and foxes. At the day time there were ravens and other birds.

We fell in love with Mr. Blue Coat, one of the hunters who took food to those animals in all weathers. Sometimes he was there twice a day. He put meat on the table for the birds, too.

He is a Red Cardinal Kuremarie. We get them all spring, summer and especially at Christmas. It is amazing to see their bright read feathers in a white, snowy tree!

They are cute little things and if you mimic their song they will "talk" to you endlessly!
