Unfortunately it was very thick fog here also last night..couldn`t see anything
..but i found a link to some beautiful pictures of "UFO" clouds.
The latin name of the clouds are LENTICULARIS, and they are formed when pretty strong wind in the height is blowing over a mountain range:

You have never seen The Earth like this before...
This is a time- lapse video put together of pictures from The Internationale Space Station. Several clips shows Aurora Borealis (The Northern Lights) and Aurora Australis (Southern Lights). The pictures are taken from august to october this year.

Jo,were they all bust ? I know 2011 was a bumper year for apple but ''Raining Apple"' is just too funny.
You must be envious,as you don't have your own apples yet.
I suppose you could call it a weather phenomenon.
